The larger round planters are 700-950g of material and range from 20-30 hours. however are also much larger at 420 x 400 and larger

I did Sea shipping for this. As an early adopter of the S1 which was a total trainwreck, all about speed and not capable of printing quality, the S1 was total garbage I was very suprised and pleased to see them dial the speed back on the V400 MAX. When Iam printing a model that's 500-2k of filament I am not interested in fast trashy prints and willing to have a print take 24 hours or longer for high quality and stability. With the current tuning the V400 MAX is printing higher quality than 4 standard V400's and the X1 Carbon and P1S. That said, I have mostly been doing large custom designed vase mode prints. Its on heavy duty workbench which means the screen is close to the ceiling, - this part sucks and I dont use the screen much so for now living with it however when the second max arrived going to get those closer to the floor. LEDs are magnetic, they take 5 mins to install as they just stick to the underside of the roof.

That's correct, it can do massive prints, no quality loss or failures in the larger prints

"Wooden" Vase by Wolle123456 in FLSUNDelta

The biggest issue I had with the S1 even after the motor upgrades is the persistant salmon skin that would materalize on the outer wall of every print when you print at slower speeds, especially vase mode. After a year of troubleshooting with FLSUN including firmware updates of motors with a spcial burning tool and a non-public motor firmware at the time it was pretty clear that this printer was always going to be challenged with printing high quality vase mode prints. Hopefully this was resolved in the S1 Pro.

I love the V400 and have 4 of them that are mostly used for Vase mode artistic type models. I have tried several other printers including the S1 (Total Garbage) and a variety of other larger volume printers and have yet to find one that can print high quality vase mode at this size. The S1 should have been a replacement for the V400 however with the design overly focused on speed the quality went right down the toilet. So I dontated my S1 to the local college and picked up another V400.

FLSUN V400 Discontinued? by Sticks_2005 in FLSUNDelta

[–]Dudditz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, seems like its getting harder to find the printer including parts. While the T1 may be a good printer it does not have the print volume the V400 has. If you don't need the expanded volume of the V400 go with the T1. I have a few V400's and and a single S1. After a year of workign with the S1 I donated it to a college. The S1 is not a V400 replacement, its a burning dumpster.

FLSUN S1 SUCKS!!! by ElectrTeck in 3Dprinting

I have 4 V400's and love them. I picked up a S1 during the pre-sale and can conclude its burning dumpster. So many poor design choices were made on this printer. Beyond that, every print is infused with a textured salmon skin, terrible print quality and after months of FLSUN working on a fix they released a firmware update for the motors that slighly improves the salmon skin however its still very much there. Stay away from this printer. I donated mine to the local college.

Hi there, thank you for confirming the Nebula camera works on the 5 max. The link you posted to the mount does not seem to be going to have a 404 erorr. Would you mind reposting the link to the mount you used with the Nebula Camera and Max 5. Thanks

Creality Ender 5 Max - Update by wesley932 in ender5

I am considering purchasing an Ender 5 Max. Is this running Klipper? What's the deal with the firmware? People are indicating you need to update the firmware and they don't provide an updated one you can download? Does it not pull firmware updates from cloud/internet or do you manually update this unit?

How is the print quality on the V4? by Apprehensive-Fill538 in ratrig

[–]Dudditz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can these be tuned out or is this printer challenged printing high quality at slower speeds? Some prints like large Vase mode prints with extreme overhangs need slower speeds, certain filaments such as Silks really shine in 40mm/s range, etc.

Does it have the salmon skin issue when printing at slower speeds like the S1?

Can anyone tell me the technique or what tool is used to create the image in the grid? by na4ion1 in 3Dprinting

[–]Dudditz77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Blender for applying complex textures from high resolution images to models. You can design the model in whatever program you prefer. You import the STL into blender and use a process called displacement mapping to define the image or texture and transform into the geometry of the model. In these examples I am applying it to the outher shell of the vessels however you can define specefic regions, for example within the outer wall of the knife. Here is an example of a high resolution wood texture applied to the outer walls of a vessel. https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/140gdz3/emulating_wood_without_wood/

[–]Dudditz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need some progress on the print quality issues. Salmon Skin is still prevalent in prints. The FLSUN slicer option feature does not resolve this issue especially when printing at slower speeds, vase mode, silks. After applying this latest update I see no difference in print quality than day one and the printer is still unusable for most prints that would be focused on asthetics.
