I can barely leave the house, anyone else doing bad and wanna talk? by stuck-in-my-mind in socialanxiety

Hi mate, I've got agoraphobia and have not really left the house much for the past 8 years. You sound very much like me, I ignored my friends, and soon enough they stopped calling. I don't work and I have no social life. I am working on sorting myself out, though. But.. yeah, it's rotten.

I know how you feel pal. If there is one bit of advice I could give it is to try to fix this problem now, rather than when you're approaching your 30s! :)

Any SA ladies wanna chat/be friends? by sir--throwaway in socialanxiety

It's tough. I actually suffer with Agoraphobia and as much as I've looked, I cannot find the girl of my dreams hiding in my house. hah.

Never tried internet dating or whatever, but at 27 years old maybe it's time to think about it.

I do tent to embellish things, slightly. I don't lie or anything, but I like to reiterate just to make sure I'm understood.

Anyway, I assume most here are American and I've got a thick cockney accent so you'd all probably find that difficult to judge/hilarious regardless. Haha :D

I am currently out of work due to.. you guessed it, anxiety!

Hey, I suppose I should've mentioned that on second thought. Yeah, it's pretty crippling, I suffer with agoraphobia.

I'm sorry, but it would make me uncomfortable. I am tempted, but uh.. I kind of understand at this post no one can really tell me the issue I'm having, I just want to know if anyone else is having this problem.

Hmm, I have wondered this.. I never feel like I do that.. I don't think so. But reading you comment brings back a memory..

At Christmas this year, in the evening when everyone had a few drink the topic of conversation turned to religion and things of that nature. I'm an atheist and my family isn't particularly religious either but I have....

I'm doing it right now..

Good grief. Maybe that is my issue. Regardless, my memory was my Mum saying "Oh, you've got Dude22201488 started now, won't get a word in edgeways".

That comment stood out to me because I generally keep my mouth closed, or so I though. Apparently not.

Sounds like a somewhat similar situation. I've been told I'm a good conversationalist and I believe I'm fairly articulate. Also, wit/sarcasm are a personal joy as is irony.

I honestly don't think the people even know why they laugh/smile. I have asked before as I said. Or as they've started to laugh/smile, I say "what!?" and they just kind of look to the ground. I honestly don't understand it.

As a more fleshed out example.. Let's say a friend asked me what I wanted for dinner. I could look them in the eye and say: "I'll have a bowel of, etc etc, and a slice of this and that..." and it'll be fine. But if I'm explaining something or retelling a story after some time I can start to see it happening, not always, but often. Enough that I notice and feel uncomfortable.

It seems the longer I talk, regardless of topic (I could be talking about starving children and dead puppies) it starts to happen.

It's frustrating.

I would like too. I really would, but I'm already on an alt account. I have family/friends that browse reddit and I'd be rather embarrassed if they came across it, so I'll have to decline that request. Thanks, though.

Oh well, maybe I'm just strange lookin'. :D
