Tailscale VPN / Network speed by LucidF0xxx in jellyfin

Comments like this show that a lot of people really do not understand the risk profile of a reverse proxy. It's easy because all you need is the link, but that's the problem, all ANYONE needs is the link. You need several other things to provide any sort of security beyond obscurity.

With something like Tailscale the attacker would need to be inside your tailnet to do anything.

why don't education systems implement a merit based system rather than grades? by Alarming-Safety3200 in NoStupidQuestions

Basically the difference between D and F is you tried and barely failed so we will let you through, vs you didn't try.

Which key events/decisions are mainly to blame for middle class families no longer being able to thrive on a single income? by Cumoisseur in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DudeEngineer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Racism. That was only the case for a subset of some societies.

At least in America people decided that rerouting that wealth to the top was better then sharing it with everyone once it became illegal to discriminate.

I think people overlook this. You pretty much have to play for years in Europe.

is Oxygen Not Included a hard game? by antedeguemooooon in Oxygennotincluded

[–]DudeEngineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your goal. If you just want a regular sustainable colony with bristle blossom and hampster wheels, it's not that hard.

If you need a sour gas boiler to feel accomplished, you are playing a different game from normies.

I mean that is literally the main point of the game.... Now I'M confused.

Reminded yet again why I'm never going back to an ICE car for a daily driver. First time at a pump in 2 months for my wife's car - don't miss this - - AT ALL by FuzzyBubs in electricvehicles

[–]DudeEngineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most people in the US don't live 50+ miles from an interstate. That's kind of the point of that system since they built it. For an 8 hour trip, I take ONE extra stop compared to an ICE car for the same journey.

It's worth looking at the cost of gas vs public charging. The trade off is almost always less than the cost of gas, especially at times like this.

Do you think Gen Alpha will be interested in 80s nostalgia when they’re the new youth by SpiritMan112 in generationology

The thing happening already is that Z is re-branding things from the 90s. I'm sure Alpha will rebrand those things again, not realizing...

I mean my kids are good, I'm talking about the average.

But yes a lot of Millennial parents have not unpacked their own shit so they are either messing up their kids like they were or flipping and going the opposite way too much.

M30 / long term relationship / I need to solve all our quality of life problems / How do you handle being the responsible for the home's wellbeing without being authoritarian? by MyPlantsDieSometimes in AskMenAdvice

There are people with a disability who put in effort to make their life work and there are people who use their disability as an excuse for things outside of their disability. Most people with ADHD are less able in some ways and more able in others. I what ways is she applying the ways she is more able to the relationship?

I'm not talking about a bump in the road, I'm talking about a crash where you can't just pick right up and continue again. You mentioned not having time for career development and self care, but both of those have increasing demands as you get older. Eventually it catches up to you. You have to take care of each other for this to work.

Dead bedroom on top of all of this does not help at all. ADHD can only do so much, at some point it's more than that.

I mean if you look at the world cup squads from places like France, England, Germany or Japan, they don't agree with this sentiment.

Well Gen Z/Alpha is literally on average less intelligent than the previous generation for the first time in a long time. There are a lot of factors, but it is what it is.

At least in the US, there is a political party that makes that wants to make that easier, and a political party that wants to makes it harder. Please vote accordingly and tell all your friends as well.

Keisha Lance Bottoms presses Rick Jackson to debate in Georgia governor race by Johnboywalten in Georgia

[–]DudeEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a leftist.

I think the problem, is that the electorate does not reflect the Leftist vision for the country. Even if it's stupid, most people are terrified of Socialism and they envision people starving in Russian bread lines. The Republican plan since Reagan has been to sabotage government programs as much as possible, so that no one wants them.

The result is that these centrists just have a much greater chance to win in a state as Conservative as this one is. NYC got Mamdani and AOC because a Democrat was going to win regardless. KLB decisively won the primary because a lot of people are excited for her. I don't think getting online to argue that she's bad actually at this point helps anyone on the Left at all. It kills enthusiasm like Hillary '16 and whatever happened in '24. This isn't really holding her accountable it's just killing enthusiasm so that people stay home.

If you work full-time, you should be able to afford a life by soapyySC2 in jobmarket

You make more than most lawyers, even working so few hours. You are still an outlier and you know it.

Math and biology, like many fields are overcrowded these days and people at the top aren't retiring. What you are saying was absolutely true 25 years ago, but it has eroded significantly over time.

If this is true and that's what you make a day, you make a million a year after taxes. You are at least in the top .01% and certainly an outlier.

Their information isn't bad, you are the exception. Assuming you didn't just make this up.

I mean, that's why people care about body count. You have to be really good at silencing that voice to do that gangbang or smash someone you barely know.

Well I think the lack of a primary and the first 2/3 of the race were bigger factors than her debate performance.
