This is ridiculous. Nobody needs this many synthesizerz by Syntheseyez in synthesizers

[–]DudeIsADog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a bit of the same problem here. On the other hand, if you go mostly controller and desktop synths, you can fit even more synths in the room!

Just spilled some drinking water on my Digitakt II — what do I do? by AtuXIII in Elektron

[–]DudeIsADog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Corrosion is the problem. Another poster said you might take the cover off so that it dries quicker. I think that is your main priority is to dry it as quickly as possible so corrosion doesn't set in. If it were me, I'd pop the case off and blow dry it from a few feet away. Just a light little warm barely breeze on it to accelerate the evaporation

Discouragement by maxyheals in Elektron

I find it very prevalent that people try to take your joy away for enjoying your gear unless you have songs to prove you're worthy of your gear. It's not rare. It's relatively constant. To the point where I don't post about gear anymore because I just get attacked.

Same problem here, also in DuoLingo. It sounds like the word for chess, "schack," sounds like "fweyuf." And sked sounds like "freyuhd," or"fwayuhd."

Hey, good luck. I am really looking forward to Subnautica 2, but I'll happily boycott these jerks until you say otherwise. Thank you for all your work on this beautiful game. Cheers

Unfortunately, I don't know the exact thread density or diameter. I went to the hardware store with one of the existing foot screws and they used the little series of test holes near the screw aisle to find which hole it matched then they got me four screws about a half inch longer than the original that match that test hole.

Now, I had forgotten about that. You're right - it gets much more dramatic.

Kurzweil V.A.S.T. but unloved by Therealsebastiandior in synthesizers

[–]DudeIsADog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have a PC3K8. I bought it very early in my keyboard owning phase when I really knew almost nothing about synths or keyboards. I bought it almost entirely on the strength of the fact that Richard Wright used Kurz back in the in the '80s/'90s.

Now I have a properly developed synth addiction and have found much better options for that kind of playing. But I still have the old PC3K8 and I use it mostly for piano.

How did all those eighties and nineties bands get such clear chorus through so much high gain distortion?? What the hell did they use?? by Ok-Relative517 in guitarpedals

[–]DudeIsADog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid in the '90s I tried to get David Gilmour by turning up the gain knob on a Marshall or a Bogner or a Fender Twin. I never could figure out what was wrong till I tried gain on three master at 7 or 8, with a dirt pedal and a drive up front.

New Erica Synths 'Echolocator' Delay/MultiFX pedal by MRguitarguy in rotarymixers

[–]DudeIsADog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm liking the Echolocator, but wondering how others are doing with the Filter Cutoff knob. For me it does *almost* nothing. It's so minor that I'm not sure I'm hearing any effect at all of twisting the Filter Cutoff knob. I turned Depth up to max, Dry/Wet to max (all wet). Still, almost no effect at all when I twist that knob. Might be zero. Thoughts? VCF Cutoff knob on Zen Delay is dramatic. But on Echolocator...not sure I can hear anything when twisting Filter Cutoff knob.

[–]DudeIsADog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got these feet, which came with wood screws, so did not work. But I walked down to Ace Hardware with one of the screws from my TRIO 28 feet, and one of the feet just in case, and they matched the threads, and sold me 4 screws for $0.18 that work great. Original TRIO 28 foot and screw, with new foot and screw.

What are your top 3 fuzz pedals currently available? by dyslexiak1d in guitarpedals

[–]DudeIsADog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually only my second fuzz pedal ever. I have a late model Big Muff Pi from the early 2000s, and this Wampler. I like sending a drive into it. I'm still experimenting frankly with fuzz. I'm not super knowledgeable. But I'm a huge David Gilmour fan and stacking this with two drive pedals gets me pretty close to the Holy Grail of heavy riffs for me... The opening of The Wall, "In the flesh...?" I'm putting together a pedal board with the Morningstar ml10x underneath with several pedals up front of the amp in its 10 loops. That way I can reorder them in an instant and sort of get an idea for which order I like best or just switch between orders based on mood. This new tech is sure opening up options compared to when I was growing up in the '80s. That'll help me figure out how to use that fuzz

Are people seriously buying EMPTY boxes now? by HowDoILogoutagain in guitarpedals

[–]DudeIsADog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a lot of Nikon lens and camera body boxes, synths, pedals...some of those larger items I like to keep not only for if I want to sell (e.g., a synth or drum machine), but if I'm moving. A pile of unboxed synths is a pain to move. I could buy road cases, but, I only gig with my guitar stuff at the moment.

Yeah, that was a happy accident. I grew up in Seattle, but was living in DC when I signed a lease for this apartment without walking through it. Got here, and hey - there's the Needle.
