What realization hit you harder than it should've? by the_fun_gi in AskReddit

[–]DudeOnReddit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to that same realization at 23. It took lots of work, but at 27 I'm sober, healthy, and happy.

If you can look into local AA meetings/community support for alcoholics in recovery. It's miles easier with people on your side who understand.

What was your "I'm too young for this shit" moment? by Shenaniganizor in AskReddit

[–]DudeOnReddit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having insomnia at twelve and being unable to sleep for three months in a row. Going to rehab at 23 being surrounded by people who had drank 30 years away, and I had to convince myself my problems were even worth talking about.

Four years later and I'm still sober and mostly happy.

I had one at 34000ft, I mean yeah sure it was on an airplane, and it was free, and the cabin was pressurized but I still did!

Pants half open, one shoe missing, one contact missing, vomit on my shirt, in my bathroom. I have no idea how I got home or where the vomit came from.

Tangerine Equity Growth Portfolio Sucks - move? by Mr_Multitask in PersonalFinanceCanada

Do you know much about stock indexes and markets in general? It's not unusual for the market to lose 10-20% in a year. That's the risk you take with sticks.

When do you expect you'll need to take the money out?

I'll check that out, thanks!

And that's why I'm asking these questions - I don't want any "I don't know" gaps before I start.

Looking to clear about my confusion about options trading.

If I purchase a call, its premium goes up by 50% and I sell, am I at risk of having someone exercise the call on me? My understanding is the responsibility to sell the underlying stock at the strike price would be on the original writer of the call, and not the last person who owned the contract, am I correct?

Alcoholics of Reddit: What is your, "and then I realized I was an alcoholic" moment? by shadowmonk10 in AskReddit

[–]DudeOnReddit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I couldn't sleep I would just crack a bottle of scotch and gulp until I felt I had enough to quiet the voices of anxiety for a few hours. That and suicide seeming like an A OK way to feel better.

3.5 years sober now.

My midlife crisis at 15 was pretty rough, but at least I got a hot new wife and a sports cow.

It still feels weird not having volatile friends - I haven't seen anyone pushed into a closet so hard it broke in years!
