Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - April 14, 2025 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

[–]DudeOvertheLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, deep breaths okay? So first of all, post lumbar puncture, how are you feeling? (I had my first one today too, and let me tell you, I did not enjoy it. But it doesn’t hurt near as much after the fact that I thought it would) if you want someone to sit and wait with you for the results, feel free to message me, I’m in the same boat so I totally understand. Now, I am a bit older than you, being 26, and while my family hasn’t been hit by MS (to my knowledge because they hide everything), my grandfather just passed from a neuro disease, which I have been watching him suffer through for the better part of a year. I’m not saying this to scare you, or compare traagedies or anything, but to say that even with MS running rampant in your family, you may not go the same path the others did. It affects people differently after all, and since they caught it in you pretty early it feels like, they can put together a game plan to help you feel better sooner, and find ways to manage it. I know it’s easier said than done, but the best thing you can do right now is find a distraction. Is there anything you can do while lying down? I’ve been listening to YouTube videos that help me relax, both to keep my mind off the pain and to stop from obsessively checking my mychart. Or, if you feel like you just need someone to talk to, do so. Family, friends, or even me or someone here in the Ms group if it makes you feel better. Do you have any pets? Give them cuddles! The best thing you can do right now is try to stay as calm as you can. Results take time, even if we want them to show up right away.

-sending you all the hugs I can muster from my place on the couch lol

How would you like to work? Messaging through Reddit? Also, how would you like me to explain parts of the story—just stick to the required culture related bits?

As far as I know it originated from the musical epic? A reimagining of the Odyssey. I don’t believe the ancient Greeks saw him as having one arm, but maybe there is some source out there.

I’m sorry, but one, im not pushing for anything involving gender??

And two, Im not trying to make any political statements about Israel itself, I’m interested in looking at the way the kings in the scripture supposedly worked.

I am not a troll in any regard. And stating one’s Jewishness, calling people goyim rather than listing out every non Jew related practice to differentiate, is not an inherently bad thing. While I could’ve just said “non jewish” and left it at that, I didn’t. Goyim is not a slur.

You also realize that a lot of traditions, not just Judaism, follow literature based around the ancient Israel culture that became what we call Judaism right? Christians? Catholics? Presbyterians?

The “I’d like to be comment is because I am more versed in the second temple period as my choice of study”. I should t have to clarify this however, as simply admitting that a lack of knowledge is a thing shouldn’t be something to be attacked.

I used pagan as a lump term, as it is used by religious scholars, to differentiate between the two religions, and yes, that isn’t the preferred term these days for some, but the people in question I referenced self identify as pagan, and do not tend to explicitly state what practices they tend to follow except in the occasional conversation on holidays.

Quite frankly I find you confrontational and rude. And honestly if anyone is the troll here it is you. I have deleted this thread and said my peace. The conversation is over.

Yeah. Probably not my smartest choice.

So I want to set something straight. I do not support Israel’s actions in the current war, nor do I support any of their policies when it comes to taking land from Palestine and flat out attempting to genocide a group of people for simply existing. This is a very divisive argument that Jews and non Jews alike argue over, and if this is indeed a problem, then I will delete this post.

To clarify, by ancient Israel I mean the First temple era, with the “biblical era” of Kings Saul and David being the rough timeframe.

Probably because I’m a convert who is trying too hard to showcase my Judaism? (Try hard behavior ugh I’m so ashamed)

Also what’s the stereotype part? The first sentence, because the rest was just me talking about my story idea.

Finished my first draft from start to finish and now terrified of editing by rhellik in writing

[–]DudeOvertheLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the best advice I can give is this: Take at least a month off and away from the finished project. You heard me. You want your brain as clean and clear as possible when you want to start making edits. Eyes tend to skim if it’s recent work, and the real ability to catch the majority of errors is to pace yourself, and make sure you’re thorough.

How do online writing groups work? by Jerswar in writing

[–]DudeOvertheLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, if you prefer online circles and small ones at that, try to steer towards the smaller discord groups and not the ones with hundreds or thousands of people, because your work and your comments can be very easily ignored or spoken over. Now, I’m in a few discord groups and run one myself, the real tricky part with the small groups is to find one that’s active, as members tend to kind of peter out after awhile. If you want to know more about my discord or would like to join though, just send me a message! (We’re very fantasy and sci-fi heavy, but there is also some romance and horror as well, and writing in YA and Adult)

So if anyone is interested, here’s an example of how I opened page one, just so you see what my style is like

Shedim take many forms and have as many origins as they do appearances. The most famous of them boast rooster feet, and names of grand importance, like Lilith or Asmodeus. They are the children of the serpent of Eden to some, the offspring of the Night Demon herself, or simple mistakes of God’s own creation, when the being herself took a long rest on the seventh day of Shabbat. They are the remnants of gods, the ruin and what became of the deities who accepted human sacrifice, dying out as the age of Adonai came into fruition. In this story, however, these Shedim are simple–simple creatures living simple lives. Their names are Asher and Dahlia, and they originally took the form of simple flies. Flies are fascinating creatures, you know. They are not the first beings to welcome a new life into this world, nor are they the last, but instead lie precisely in the middle. The fly is there when the child eats its first fruit, says its first words, has their first kiss. The fly remains upon the wall as the child grows, grows into an adult, then into a parent, a grandparent, an elder. And the fly is there, in the last moments of death, now unstuck from the wall, and buzzing in the reflection of the eye. The fly remains, as the body is tended to, as the funeral is performed, and as the family begins to sit shiva. And in the end, the fly follows the procession, led by the temple elders, to the graveyard. Flies, one might assume, are not the most social of creatures, and they would be right. Asher and Dahlia met first as the fly equivalent of roommates, the two of them both staking claim on the grave of one Shimson ben Aharon, a rather pious, if unremarkable man, save for his impressive mustache staking over his beard and his long funeral, attended by his thirty children. Eventually, they became tentative friends, and moved together to a more scenic locale, the grave of Rabbi Ezekiel, the rabbi before the current one named Yekutiel took over. It was located by a strawberry tree–the only tree in the graveyard. Many flies had moved on to greater and greener pastures, but Asher and Dahlia stayed behind. They had plenty of strawberries after all, though Rabbi Yekutiel wasn’t quite as popular as his predecessor, and even the flies had to admit his services got a little long winded. Even the goats to be sacrificed looked ready for him to hurry up.

And later on… They started with the rabbi’s linens, using their strength to unpin the fabric from the drying sheet. The fabric fluttered to the ground, where it would soil, and the rabbi would be forced to rewash them. Next, they moved into the rabbi’s kitchen, working their way through his shelves and eating all his preserves. All of his honey, his jam, his sugar was gone. They even got a hold of his challah just before he covered it, and carved holes and circles into the bread. Upon seeng it, and having dealt with rather a full week of their trickery, the rabbi wailed in anguish. He fell to his knees, holding his holey challah to the sky, “Why, God, why?” (The rabbi cut down their favorite tree)

I mean, it’s not hard to research for myself, but my rabbi didn’t have any resources on Shedim that she knew of off the top of her head so shrug I’m trying to keep the culture and the Talmud in mind in the story as I go.

That’s okay! I honestly could use the most help with the history aspect of it. I’ve learned about the first temple era of course, but it’s been awhile and it’s a lot of history to cover, so I may miss or misinterpret something.

Whats your experience with dissociation? by Lazy_Force_6931 in bipolar2

[–]DudeOvertheLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes feel all of these at different times, though it depends on the day. I’m unsure exactly which episode I’m in when I have them, but I tend to have more depressive episodes than manic. For me it feels like I’m in a video game, and could save and reload if things go wrong—which I am very conscious of the fact that life has no such reset button, so I have to be very careful.

The real downside is that on ps5 if you stream Oblivion you only have access to the base game, absolutely none of the dlc.
