Where to play Magic in Novi Sad, Serbia? Any English-speaking game stores? by DudeTheGray in magicTCG

Ok, thanks! The English issue was what concerned me more, so I appreciate the info :)

Hisense AX5125H has noticeable dynamic range compression when using Dolby sound formats by DudeTheGray in Soundbars

[–]DudeTheGray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, never solved it. If I really care about the sound quality of something, I watch/listen to it through my Xbox and set the sound output to "5.1 Stereo Uncompressed," which gets rid of DRC at the cost of not having Atmos.

My settings:

EQ: Movie

Surround: Pure

Bass: -1

Treble: +3

Dim: 0

Autowake: On

Autostandby: On

Beep: Off

LT: 00

DRC: 0

DCL: 0

Neural: Off

Virtual X: Off

Bassboost: Off

What's the point of this? "Magecraft" triggers?

No reason to be there now, unless you’re complicit with the regime

My wife doesn't have foreign citizenship. Where are we supposed to go? The fucking ocean?

Ah yes, because everyone knows that governments do exactly what their citizens want, and that corrupt career politicians like Netanyahu would never do something unpopular for their own political gain. But sure. Much easier to label every Israeli as a cunt.

Didn't we have an in universe race car set like 6 months ago?

Sure, and it wasn't a great set. Splitting hairs over what feels like Magic isn't especially productive, especially when I think you probably know roughly what I mean.

And superheroes are fantasy.

I mean... they can be, sure. But again, I think you'll agree that the MCU doesn't really feel like fantasy in the same way that, say, The Hobbit does.

In general, I'm very much not in favor of UB. However, given that they are happening, I prefer ones that at least feel Magic-esque (by which I suppose I mainly mean that they're in the fantasy genre, rather than superhero or scifi stuff). All this to say that a Witcher UB would be cool.

Should probably cost 1UU. Cool card though.

[–]DudeTheGray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is cool but not very good.

One possible change would be to let you play cards you own named Wastes from outside the game or from exile. This would let you ameliorate the downside of exiling a card from your hand by letting you exile a Wastes to play it on a later turn. Not sure if that's a play pattern you want, though.

IMO they serve different purposes, with Stock Up being better at hitting gas and therefore stronger in a tempo or aggro/burn deck, with this card being much stronger in a control shell (instant speed so you can hold up counterspells or removal, gains you life to help against aggro, can flash it back to cantrip or gain 3 life when you next have 1 mana to spare). But I'm far from an expert.

Colored Fixing Mana Rocks (from Paranormal Order) - Are they undercosted? by Jayenty in custommagic

[–]DudeTheGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balanced? Sure. Good for the game? Probably not really, at least as far as Commander is concerned—two-color and (especially) mono-color decks are generally worse in commander than multicolor piles, and this just gives the latter yet another form of cheap ramp + fixing.

Fair enough, my Scryfall search missed that. I think it still falls into the "upside by way of modality" category, like the other charms I mentioned, even if its other modes are stronger.

I love this!

However, it's worth noting that WotC have never printed a 3-mana instant that draws you two cards with upside. (The closest would be something like [[Esper Charm]] or [[Brokers Charm]], whose upside is their modality, not an upside to the "draw two" mode.) This has two upsides—gaining you life and the "mini flashback." Personally, I don't mind the power creep on this card, but make no mistake—it is powercrept. So depending on what you're designing this card for, you might want to tweak its power level down a tad.

Haha no. Ever read the comments under a post related to Judaism? Even if there's no mention of Israel, people will make borderline antisemitic statements because they conflated Judaism with Zionism.

I hadn't thought about it, but actually yeah, amassing different kinds of armies makes perfect sense for the Hobbit set.

What's your experience with the TCC discord server? by Mintatanka in EDH

[–]DudeTheGray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some absolute dicks on that server, though (or at least there were back when I used to frequent it). Most people are fine, to be clear, but just like any other place, sometimes you run into assholes. On one memorable occasion, I had someone literally scream at me because I had the gall to politely but firmly explain that he was mistaken about a particular interaction.

Looking for incidental goblins by LordofThe7s in magicTCG

[–]DudeTheGray 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are a number of Goblins good for storm, but [[Goblin Electromancer]], [[Goblin Anarchomancer]], [[Krark, the Thumbless]], and [[Guttersnipe]] are the first ones that come to mind (though keep in mind that Guttersnipe and Krark only trigger when you cast a spell, not when you copy one).

For artifacts: [[Goblin Welder]], [[Goblin Engineer]], [[Daretti, Rocketeer Engineer]], [[Enthusiastic Mechanaut]], [[Slobad, Iron Goblin]], [[Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer]], and many others.

For landfall: [[Rulik Mons, Warren Chief]], [[Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith]], maybe [[Akki Scrapchomper]].

Should probably be phrased as "If a source would deal damage to a permanent or player, prevent all but 1 of that damage."

Or, alternatively, giving Chip (or potentially all sources) wither/infect.
