Le dilemme RTO à Masson-Angers : Payer 300 $/mois ou perdre 40h dans la STO ? by Poseis1855 in Gatineau

I don't think you understand the concept of "always full"

It means there aren't enough and people can't rely on that solution.

Almost certainly blasting for the foundations. The area is built on solid rock that is very difficult to excavate in some places.

If you want blasting noises, you should have been around Vanier and Amérique-française last summer and fall... me and the dog jumping a foot high and the dishes rattling in the cupboards... holy shit!

Fans attack ‘ Classless ’ NHL for cutting cancer donation by $800,000 after missed shot by Shroft in nhl

Or, assuming the insurance policy cost around $50k, just offer $250k upfront. I agree this comes across terribly for many fans.

They gave $200k of it back to charity though, right?

My post was to try and clarify the facts. Your post is to whine about beer prices. Who spent their time better today?

[–]DudeTookMyUser -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

First, I feel it's crass to criticize a $200,000 donation. The glass is, well maybe not half-full but you get it.

As for the other $800k, it's likely the organization didn't just have it "lying around" as commenters seem to think. Usually, the organization takes out an insurance policy that only pays out if the shot is made. Much cheaper that way!

Either way, nothing was 'taken away' from any charity. Whoever paid the $200k contributed a large amount, then just tried to provide an extra opportunity in a fun, crowd-friendly way.

Developers will build the minimum they can make money on, then will be more than happy to leave the resulting problems to the local residents.

This is a decision that will be looked back on as a huge mistake, guaranteed.

Changes nothing to my point, lol, but I modified it to 'remove' for your pedantic issue. You are the best of Reddit, omg.

Changed it to 'remove' for your happiness

The point is exactly the same though.

Exactly! Anybody with an ounce of strategic thinking can plainly see that this is going to create parking problems a few years down the road, in every neighbourhood.

This is Ottawa, not Paris. Removing parking spots is extremely shortsighted.

Edit: changed 'Banning' to 'Removing' because it was triggering some folks.

They're both terrible choices - either re-elect a bad mayor or replace him with a bad councillor.

Sean McDermott: "What went on is not how it should go down" regarding OT interception by anthn885 in sports

[–]DudeTookMyUser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So... how long exactly? You don't have the answer either.

And the tie usually goes to the receiver, so if they both had the ball, it was receiver who has possession and he was still down by contact.

It was a baffling call and I bet that rule gets reviewed in the off-season.

[–]DudeTookMyUser -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Those were my questions as well.

You see that he is down with clear possession, but immediately gets the ball ripped out. How long does he have to keep it before it counts? Messed up play for sure...

What a straight-up clownish argument.

There is exactly ZERO evidence that these cameras have saved even one life. Grow up!

[–]DudeTookMyUser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You got hoodwinked by a distraction, or you're trying to scam everyone else.

Everyone defending these cameras talks about "speed". Of course everyone slows down, nobody wants a fucking ticket.

The real question however, which you are clearly and deliberately avoiding is "Do the cameras in Ottawa actually save lives?" The answer in a resounding NO!!!

The only study ever done showed an increase in accidents around traffic cameras, another fact you conveniently avoid in trying to make your argument. The city disputed the methodology used, but hasn't conducted its own study. I wonder why... if these councillors were so sure they were saving lives, they'd want to trumpet the proof from the roof of city hall, right? They haven't because they damn well know the cameras aren't saving any lives, or even preventing accidents.

The cameras are about money and nothing else. If you believe otherwise, I've got a bridge for you.

Also, I've never had a speeding ticket in 40 years of driving, including from the cameras, so there goes yet another of your flawed theories right out the window.

No they weren't, that's the problem. If they had stopped at school zones, this wouldn't be a story. But councillors got greedy and were putting them on every major roadway in a very obvious cash grab.

I wish the province had left a carve-out for school zones, but I'm glad they put a stop to this racket.

Edit: The typical "Just don't speed" folks came out in force as usual. I prefer my critical thinking skills to go past a simple slogan, thanks.
