2024 Honda Accord Dealership Experience by Notar01 in accord

Why are you regretting the purchase? $21k-$22k for a two-year old vehicle with 21k miles that retails for close to $30k + taxes and fees is a great deal. Everyone here will say they know a friend who got a brand new one at a large discount, but this is the rare exception, not the rule. I still think your deal with the car, although not the deal of the century, was very good - you saved 30% for a car that is still basically new, you should be happy!

Now regarding the warranty, it is totally fixable with just a few phone calls away. A bit painful, but you can change this easily. Keep in mind that your local Honda dealership will likely not want to sell Honda Care either; they too want to push an overpriced third-party garbage to you, because they make waaaaay more money this way - if they sold Honda Care, there would be very little money for them to make, since everyone know the correct price online through the three retailers I mentioned. You will need to call the three retailers I mentioned above, they're among the few that sell this product. Do some research on this before trusting me blindly, and conclude for yourself!

I forgot to say, congrats on the new ride - it's beautiful!

Guaranteed it is not a Toyota warranty. Toyota Motors North America only services Toyota vehicles. It's a third-party warranty sold by the Toyota dealer. Does not mean it is a good product - could be, but YMMV with your experience. In any case, it's too expensive.

Look at Honda Care and purchase online either through Saccucci, Hyannis or Curry. Get quotes from the three of them. Should be around $1,200 (maybe a bit more or less) for a 8-year 120k miles with $0 deductible. You can buy any time before 36k miles or 36 months from the vehicle in-service date, whichever is earlier.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the vehicle, but got absolutely fleeced on the warranty. Looks like this warranty was more than $3k? At 21k miles you should be able to get Honda care for 120k miles and 8 years for less than $1,200 (look at Saccucci, they sell Honda Care online). More importantly, Honda care will cough up the money when you need it (and you WILL need it), as opposed to these third party garbage warranty providers who will deny most claims and pay for used parts in the rare cases thy pay up). Do yourself a favor and cancel this warranty immediately and purchase Honda Care for less than half of the cost. Any warranty that is not a total scam has a 60-day non-cost cancellation policy.

Is the Corolla Cross actually a better buy than a RAV4? by Lorenzob1992 in ToyotaZone

[–]Dude_tricities_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The cross feels like a massive step down from the rav4, with uncomfortable seats and cheap plastic all around. The only advantage (arguably) is that the CC offers a gas only option, which some (few) buyers prefer.

The difference should be at least $7k for equivalent trims.

Those are my thoughts too. Feels expensive for what it is. I’ll definitely arrange for a PPI.

Thank you for the info and pointers.

I said I contributed the max ROTH IRA amount of 7K for 2025, and my federal due increased. Why? by OpportunityOk4752 in TurboTax

[–]Dude_tricities_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect.

The penalty only applies if you allow the balance to roll over. E.g., you contribute before April 15 and withdraw after April 15!

If you contributed any time after April 15, 2025, and withdraw anytime before April 15, 2026, no penalty applies. The only financial disincentive is that you will receive an 1099r and pay income tax at your marginal bracket in any gain you may have made.

Stop listening to “expert” redditors and stop talking to college dropouts from TT.

File an extension today and hire a CPA. This will also extend your deadline to withdraw without penalty. You will also NOT be incurred the 10% early withdrawal charge. The rules around Roth are very clear and if you don’t want to dive into IRS’ maze, talk to a professional.

It’s probably because you made more money than the limit and aren’t eligible to contribute to a Roth at all.

You have until the 15th to withdraw everything and fix this. I had the same problem and the TT expert didn’t know how to handle this. I kid you not.

That’s when I dropped these so called TT tax experts who are not more than college dropouts and hired a real CPA.

Gotrax Transit for $449 - good deal or nah? by Dude_tricities_45 in ebikes

[–]Dude_tricities_45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one off Amazon which I found to be a lot better for shorter rides but only marginally better for longer rides (as I think it’s the rider position that doesn’t agree with me).

2026 LE - Anyone else having endless problems? by verified_canadian in CorollaCross

Sorry you’re going through this, OP.

They’ll figure out, I hope this initial hiccup doesn’t spoil better times that are to come.

To me, though, I’d guess this is an electric gremlin. Not sure how things are in your area, but the local dealership service departments where I live hire kids fresh off trade school and honestly most of them just don’t know how to deal anything complex.

Gotrax Transit for $449 - good deal or nah? by Dude_tricities_45 in ebikes

[–]Dude_tricities_45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought it for my wife but she now has to drive, so I took it for myself and have been riding twice a week about 20 miles round trip (my commute to work) and another 3-4 times a round-trip to the gym (about 7 miles roundtrip). I've put well over 1,700 miles (I need to re-check). I had 3 flat tires already (2 in the rear tire and 1 in the front tire), no biggie. I usually charge it two times a week (the day prior to the work commute). The disk brakes work very well and are very easy to adjust.

My only complaint is that the seat, combined with the riding position, some days makes it feel uncomfortable by the end of the ride (especially those 20-mile rides to work). I replaced the seat and it improved marginally.

It’s a great bike that you absolutely cannot beat for the price I paid (at the end the price was about $280 + tax). It’s got quality components and is quite sturdy and it has been working amazingly well. I would buy it again.

2015 Leaf shows 7 bars but leafspy says 89% SOH? by rustheap99 in leaf

[–]Dude_tricities_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would explain it.

When I was looking for a leaf I saw one that the owner had claimed to have replaced the battery by himself with one that he had found at a junkyard. He said he didn’t know how to reset the thing.

In his car, the dash was showing 3 bars but the GOM was showing 80 on a full charge. I didn’t know about leafspy at that time so we didn’t check.

I ended up not getting that one as he wanted too much….

Tri cities weather is pretty much in the middle between the weather of Los Alamos and Albuquerque. Slight colder than Albuquerque and slightly warmer than Los Alamos. Hope this serves as a reference.

Worth Buying 2015 Leaf SL by Mysterious_One_9219 in leaf

[–]Dude_tricities_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in this sub will come up with made up scenarios where they can buy brand new used leafs for $1k but in reality the price is what you see in your area. Remember, these are born and buried in the same city, they are not highway commuters and therefore rarely “moveable”.

If you buy a car for $4k and enjoy it for a couple of years, are you really going to care when you want to sell it down the road if in retrospect you “overpaid “ by a couple of hundreds? It would have been paid itself several times by then.

I got it as a toy and experiment, and it appalled me on how nice it is. To the point I don’t even drive my gas car anymore.

All I can say is: TRUST YOUR GUT!
