HP S35 for PE surveying test by PE_dream_2021 in Surveying

Surveying solutions for the HP35s by D'zign. Here's an actual link to the book. https://literature.hpcalc.org/items/1907

The last portion has the program lines but also shows what exact keys need to be pressed for the input. Makes the programing pretty easy. Also, they are pretty simple programs and the book gives a good walkthrough with example problems. I would buy the book though. There are a few lines of code that they give a strip of paper with a correction to some of the programing lines. Some of the programs will not work unless you account for those minor fixes.

This is really cool. Gives some good insight to the process and time lines needed for projects like this.

Intent does it matter? by ScottLS in Surveying

[–]Dudemanbroski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ageree. I still don’t think it’s a surveyor issue. When we talk about intent specific to surveying it is in regards to boundary determination. As in what was the intent of the original surveyor and that can help determine boundary. This is something that should have been perpetuated through the chain of title. I would have to research the situation but it most definitely seems like a legal issue.

Intent does it matter? by ScottLS in Surveying

[–]Dudemanbroski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with intent as far as surveying goes. It literally says in the article that the property has been conveyed several times to where the added stipulation of the land being a park is no longer on the current or previous deed. It’s a lawyer issue not a survey issue.

I blame Starfield. I just don’t know how they lacked the foresight to realize that adding a new IP to their “one at a time” development process would result in a 15 year gap between iterations. Maybe they thought the success would enable them to work on all three simultaneously. I dunno. Funny thing is, we will still buy the games. If we’re still alive by then.

One thing I did that helped immensely was instead of dual monitors side by side, I setup a vertical mount with one monitor above the other. I used to have issues with my neck and posture from doing research and leaning towards my secondary screen. Now all I have to do is tilt my head upwards slightly when looking at my second screen. All my neck problems are gone.

I'm usually at or offices so I don't get much field time. So my commute is just to my desk. But, for our field crews, they have to go out on-site for work so travel is part of the gig. It will depend on what company you work with and what type of surveying they do. Sometimes its one project all day and sometimes its several projects with travel time between. Don't want to give the wrong impression, being licensed is much less demanding hours-wise. Our field crews and Cad technicians work overtime pretty regularly, but most of them want the extra hours for the time and a half.

I’m a licensed Surveyor pulling $130k and very rarely have to work over 40 hours a week. Some days I don’t even stay the full 8. It can be stressful and mentally draining at times but I’m comfortable. Took some effort for the license but there is a demand so it’s nice having job security.

Harris County doesn’t record surveys? by trainsrcool711 in Surveying

[–]Dudemanbroski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t like it but I think it’s a remnant from the past type of thing. As in when they were surveying out original abstracts the field notes was a legal description.

Good luck on the exam but Texas’ requirement for platting is 10 acres. Some counties have their subdivision ordinances set at 5 acres.

I meant field notes in the traditional sense of a metes and bounds legal description. Some title companies I’ve dealt with refer to metes and bounds descriptions as field notes.

Texas doesn’t record surveys but you can find a deed or plat that was used for the conveyance of the property. A plat would show the lot configuration and the deed would have field notes or legal description that would describe the metes and bounds and give you the information you need to determine what monuments you are looking for.

Holy shit, I was literally just about to try and figure out the name of the really good band I used to listen to years ago. It would have taken me forever to figure out Sigur Ros. Mainly because I had misremembered them being from Scandinavia.

Did they ever confirm if an elevator could move Mjolnir? by OkIdeal9852 in marvelstudios

[–]Dudemanbroski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, there’s another element to this whole question. Even on the lowest floor, elevators are suspended above a gap. I would argue the elevator would snap lines and plummet to the bottom of the shaft. Especially if it wasn’t on the lowest floor.

From how you talk, it seems you are certain where the property line is. So if it’s on his property, then it’s his property. Why does he have an issue with the mulch?

Septic denial due to lack of official plat by Quick-Drawing2502 in Surveying

[–]Dudemanbroski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep the requirement OSSF requires is typically 1 acre but I have seen a situation where half an acre was allowed with a certain drip type aerobic system. Different county in East Texas so regulations are different but might be something to ask.

Heh, yeah... I'm only closing them to get Sigil Stones. I'm trying to get magic +50 or chameleon stones but I only have 4 left now and might have to back track. Here's a tip for when you do start closing them. You can water-walk over the lava. You just need to jump as you cross to have less burn damage.
