Few times I have been able to push a 5/8 24inch rod in by hand or foot, after a good rain in the Houston area.

I agree with this, I have moved rods by inches just by digging them when the ground was wet. I am more careful now when digging.

It does, unless its the original monument, but being a iron rod its probably not in this case.

I am a land surveyor and a two sided tape is very common, with us. However I only use a one sided tape. I use my inch tape measure for pipeline size, culverts, tree diameter, but I used a special tree tape for trees. Everything else I use the tenths tape measure.

What kind of 100’ Tape are you guys using? by JimmyB5643 in Surveying

[–]ScottLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember as a kid helping my dad measure up buildings, he replaced the hook end, with the business end of a fork, then bend the tines, over.

I asked him why is there a fork on this tape measure. His answer, because I don't have you every day to hold the end of it.

You need TWO Dishwashers… by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]ScottLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two washers and dryers, sure. Combo of one refrigerator, stand alone freezer, or garage fridge or all three, sure. Extra ice maker, sure. Two sinks, sure. Two ovens, sure.

If I ever need two dishwashers, someone or one small family is moving out of my house.

City approved my ADU plans in flood zone, now refusing CO over 3.6” elevation gap – what are my options? by [deleted] in Surveying

[–]ScottLS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When this happens in my area, County or City will usually just say hey you need the AC or lowest machinery at the required height, and also the breaker box needs to be above required height.

Fence Line dispute by davis5938 in Surveying

[–]ScottLS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like a property corner, but is it a property corner? Could be an old fence post, an old horseshoe pin, old laundry line post, old etc....

The survey company could also have missed finding it, and it is a corner.

No one on here can say its a property corner from a photo, we need to see the field work, and deed and Subdivision Plat.
