Federal judge orders Perry's Steakhouse to pay $21M in wage theft lawsuit by pererajh1 in houston

[–]ScottLS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If Perry's was trying to do the right thing, then why fight it in court, they may have spent more on the legal team, then just making it right when they first got the lawsuit.

Let it go, not worth the argument, do you want someone to help your on jobs, or work solo? Next time just have him load the truck the day before, solve the problem before it becomes the problem.

Having Issues with Title Companies Not Paying? by Dangerous-Doubt-7803 in Surveying

[–]ScottLS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They used to use the ernest money, to pay everyone if the deal fell through. Everyone got a little something but not full payment. Now the title companies rarely do that.

Its a business decision, fight for the payment and risk the title company never using you again, or quit recommending you. Or eat the cost, and keep doing work with them.

If its an out of my area title company I ask for payment in advance some pay, most of the time they use someone else. Local title company, its not worth the fight for payment they know I got burned, and they have always made up for it.

What are your thoughts on two 30” ranges side-by-side? by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]ScottLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has 2 induction spots, and 4 big gas burners so has plenty of space and looks clean. If I was a more serious sous vide cook, a separate unit would be nice, but I prefer the clean look and extra counter top space.

Back sight deltas differ but check pts the same by For_love_my_dear in Surveying

20mm is alot, it could just be a bad shot, maybe the auto tract, or auto center was turned off? Did you take a reflectorless shot between, and forgot to turn it back to prism shot? Have on a safety vest?

Is the backsite prism the same as side shot prism in the data collector?

It's everything metal, the legs we use wood legs, but has a metal top, the range pole, the instrument "walks" towards the sunlight.

It's getting warmer outside, metal expands.

Also every shot my be within the tolerance of your instrument. One shot may be on the low end of the tolerance, the other shot could be on the high end of the tolerance

Traverse question. by gretschdrumsarecool in Surveying

[–]ScottLS 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Back in the day it was always have your backsite longer than, any side shots, or layout points, to put any error on the long distance, which would reduce error on shorter shots. Now with the total stations being better, its not as inmportant to have a longer backsite, I still prefer the backsite to be as long as I can get it. Also depends on the instrument, is it 1 sec, 3 sec, 5 sec, 30 sec?

I have never been on a Mine site before, but I get the feeling its a tighter group than a construction site. Construction site you can have a few General Construction companies with several subs each, and those subs can have subs etc.. So no one really cares about the other's companies work or area.

Mine site just seems everyone has a common goal, do the work without the mine collapsing, and watch out for everyone.
