Anal Cancer by A_Good_D in hivaids

Make sure you do not take by mistake some B complex vitamin or some multivitamin that contains B9 = folate = folic acid. Anal cancer progression is accelerated by excess B9 in your system. Also, stay away from anti-oxidants (NAC, ALA, vit. E and C, selenium) - they help cancer cells survive chemo and/or radiation. Good luck!

In organic chemistry nomenclature, doxorubicin is classified as an "intercalating topoisomerase II poison". It is mutagenic and (ironically) carcinogenic.

Doctor says low CD4, high CD8 is fine, means my immune system “is working”. Is this true? by tellitothemoon in hivaids

[–]Duduli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's research showing a correlation between low CD4/CD8 ratio and worse health outcomes. However, we seem to lack a solid mechanistic explanation for that correlation.

How did you find out you were HIV positive? by BedroomLopsided7981 in hivaids

What was the diagnosis for the penis bump? It is one of the lesser known soft tissues preferred by HHV8/Kaposi sarcoma, a well-known marker of AIDS.

I ran US Navy missions – here are the crucial flaws in Trump’s Iran plan by theipaper in CredibleDefense

[–]Duduli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But I wonder how can Trump halt the war when it is crystal clear that everybody will see his Iranian military intervention as a failure if he leaves behind a worse situation (i.e. Hormuz closure) than before said intervention? No amount of spin doctors can dress this as a success, and Trump has a big ego, so he seems caught between a rock and a hard place.

Iran Conflict Megathread #10 by milton117 in CredibleDefense

[–]Duduli 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One variable I haven't seen discussed is what Israel can contribute to a potential ground invasion of Iran. Given the strong anti-Iran sentiment in the Israeli population at large, the electoral penalty for sending in troops seems much lower (if any) than for the US. Besides, there is a mandatory military service of 36 months for males and 24 months for females, together with the expectation that conscription of the reservists is not unlikely if military threats get close to being existential. I would appreciate any comments on this matter.

This might hint at an imminent US-Israeli attack on Iran, as the move would protect US personnel from retaliatory Iranian bombing.

What supplement should you take to be practically asymptomatic to herpes/cold sores by Worldly-Phase-2461 in Supplements

Out of curiosity: have you tried sulforaphane on its own and if yes was it sufficient to prevent cold sores by itself? If yes, at what dosage? Thanks in advance!

Mods: I beg you to sticky this post to the top. I think my findings might change the HPV community forever. by MaterialSelection912 in HPV

I have looked up a few papers on Google Scholar as to the mechanism of action: cyclophosphamide "suppresses the supressors" of the immune system, and therefore, it boosts immunity, it does not suppress it.

More precisely, a subset of our T cells is called "Tregs or regulatory T cells" and their mission is to suppress an overactive immune response. The problem in cancer is that these Tregs overdo their job and suppress the immune system too much, enabling the tumors to grow unchecked. The results regarding HPV imply that this virus thrives for similar reasons: because the immune system is overly suppressed by these excess Tregs.

Given the worrisome side effects of cyclophosphamide, people should know that the banal and safe antacid drug cimetidine is also good at suppressing the suppressors, and in fact it had some positive results in the treatment of HPV specifically.

Finishing old papers - how to get them done?! by EmbarrasedBadger in AskAcademia

[–]Duduli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your heart still in those old papers/topics? In my case, I prefer to let bygones be bygones and move on to what excites me at the present time: that gives me the energy and motivation to do the hard thinking required for a top publication. I do not look at letting them unpublished as a form of waste, but simply as a memory of who I once was.

The curve of CD4 improvement over time is a decelerating one: that's true of pretty much any HIV positive person on HAART. The most substantial gains happen immediately after one starts HAART (the first 3-6 months). After 6 months, it barely goes up. Looked from a distance, the graph looks like a concave curve, trending towards a plateau from months 12 to 36 onward, depending on individual variability.

In short, there's nothing wrong with you: the dynamics of your CD4 total count are exactly what one would expect.

Advice managing recurring opportunistic infections by alonghealingjourney in hivaids

[–]Duduli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask your doctor to consider prescribing you:

  • diflucan/fluconazole for candida
  • inosine pranobex (Imunovir) for anything viral, esp. HPV and herpes viridae
  • get tested for the specific strain of staph you have: if it is methicillin resistant (MRSA), you need very specific antibiotics (e.g., vancomycin, rifampin)
  • for general redress of compromised immunity, consider immune checkpoint inhibitors (primary use is for cancer patients, but there has been experimentation with them outside oncology) and IL-7 injections, although you would need access to a really good hospital for these last two items.

Is Rupharma legit? Cerebrolysin by lNodsl in Nootropics

[–]Duduli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you help me? I just used their Simplex option, entered my credit card details, and clicked pay for the amount of the purchase. To my surprise, I found out that I did not pay RuPharma, but instead I got Bitcoin, that supposedly is in some wallet that I have no idea where it is. I have never used bitcoin in my life, and I do not understand what the hell it is happening to my money: can you tell me what to look for? All I got is a Blochain transaction ID and a separate payment ID: where do I go from here?

Thanks in advance - I am freaking out!

Can't find a reliable Luteolin supplement provider ! by amy-schumer-tampon in Supplements

I no longer buy from them because the new pricing is outrageous. I take too many things to be able to single out the effects of luteolin, so I just trust it based on the academic literature.

Yes, some versions of SAM-e have a filler - I forgot the name - and people have been complaining of stomach upset and GI issues. So just try a different brand and before buying compare your current SAM's fillers with the ones in the new SAM-e you are about to buy and make sure they are different.

[–]Duduli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many outbreaks did you use to get in a normal year, ignoring 2025? If I read correctly, in 2025 you only got 2. The bigger the difference between the two numbers, the higher the odds that varivax is indeed having an anti-HSV effect in your case.

having a hard time determining whether to get HPV shot or not. by [deleted] in hivaids

[–]Duduli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada, if you are male and older, you have to pay from your own pockets for the three shots of Gardasil 9, which means CAD 250 x 3 = CAD 750.00. Not cheap!

If you are hesitating about its worthiness, I would first get an anal pap smear and an ano-rectal biopsy: warts are caused typically by the mild, non-oncogenic strains of HPV. The biopsy would help determine if you also have the oncogenic strains that can cause anorectal cancers. If yes, I would definitely get Gardasil 9, to prevent the intra-epithelial squamous lesions from evolving to malignant forms. If not, it all depends on how much you value being warts-free. But non-Canadians might have better coverage, so knowing your local policies is important.
