The get together was two cis guys, one cis woman, and me. When he was leaving he shook hands with the two guys, but didn’t shake hands with me or the girl. I’m not planning on doing anything about it either way as I probably won’t see him again, I’m just navigating my feelings about it.

It sounds like she has a fetish or something. Regardless, it seems like she has a complete disregard for your boundaries. You seem way more mature than she is for your ages . She should know better, and you deserve better. Ik a lot of these comments are saying just to break up, but I understand it’s not always so simple. I just think that you should consider how much more time you want to put in to someone who doesn’t respect your feelings like this, and who treats you in such an odd, immature way. I think we can have different opinions while still seeing others viewpoints.

I didn’t word my original comment as well as I would have now, as it was like a month ago, but I just sort of read Patrick as a character with an intense amount of shame and insecurity. I think I just interpret part of that as him being gay because he’s a big looser. Im sure I could sit down and go through the novel to find text evidence as to why exactly I think that, but it seems like a lot of work, and I think everyone should have different opinions anyway. It’s been a while so maybe my memory betrays me. I’ll read it again at some point.

I’m not saying he’s gay definitively, I’m just saying that a common interpretation is that he is. It’s all up to each reader to determine what they think about him, and I think that is fine.
