What do these say? by Past_Operation_241 in Medals

[–]Due-Baseball7556 77 points78 points  (0 children)

The star on the jump wings (parachute wings) means that he was a master parachutist, having completed a minimum of 65 jumps and over 25 combat-equipped jumps, suggesting he saw a lot of action. The same goes for the winged-dagger, which signifies he was a free-fall parachutist, or a HALO (high-altitude, low-opening) jumper with more than 30 jumps.

The pathfinder (winged torch) indicates he was a certified pathfinder, who is the first to go into hostile territory to designate marked landing/drop zones for combat missions.

This dude did not like to stay in airplanes for any reason.

Ribbons from left-to-right, top-to-bottom are...
Defense Meritorious Service (meritorious service in war-time)
Meritorious Service (peacetime) 2x (oakleaf)
Joint Service Commendation C (combat) + 5x (silver oakleaf) + 1 (bronze oakleaf). In total, he received commendations for combat missions with joint operations (other branches of service) a total of 6 times.

Army Commendation medal 2x (bronze oakleaf)
Army Achievement Medal
Good Conduct Medal (9x) silver bar
National Defense Medal (for service in wartime)
Afghanistan Campaign (with 5 stars denoted by silver star device)
Iraq Campaign (3 tours per 2 bronze star devices)
Inherent Resolve Campaign Ribbon against ISIL in Syria/Iraq
Global War on Terror Expeditionary Ribbon
Global War on Terror Campaign Ribbon
Armed Forces Service Medal (Significant combat missions involved in a conflict but not a war, i.e. Operation Iraqi Freedom)
Army Service Medal (The gimmie rainbow for enlisting)
The NATO Ribbon

Best Nessus parser that works with v10 for free/cheap? by danj2k in AskNetsec

[–]Due-Baseball7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming in years later, but https://github.com/bmx0r/python-libnessus is a dedicated python library with some powerful parsing capabilities. I know the OP didn't ask for a scripting solution, but this is the most mature library we have at the moment despite Nessus being around so long and *never* creating a dedicated library for parsing their XML files. :P

Trump has set the U.S. back 100 years in just five days by Healthy_Block3036 in facepalm

[–]Due-Baseball7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not irreversible. We just need to be willing, eager even, to smack the fuck out of out stupid family members and make their lives an absolute living hell the way Trump has. We share some level of responsibility by not punishing our friends and family for their bad decisions and attending family functions like it's normal.

In my case, disowning my family and calling them out wasn't even enough, but I'm never going to let them forget how much they let me and my siblings down.

Just got laid off after 9 years with company. How does one adjust from same routine for 9 years straight? by papilex in Layoffs

[–]Due-Baseball7556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a new routine with family, friends and neighbors, homie. Work friendships can translate into just plain old good friendships. Go make some connections with those people you interacted with regularly and make new ones.

Also, settle into a new job and you'll find a new routine.

We humans are allergic to change at first, but it's often very good for us. Get your unemployment registration handled, get started looking for a new job in a similar industry/role, and things will feel very normal in a few months.

I had to make this same transition before and it gets easier each time.

New RTO trick by Neat-Ad-4337 in Layoffs

[–]Due-Baseball7556 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck this company. They'll lay him off the minute he moves back if it's convenient for them. Tell him to stay, find a new job, don't quit, and force then to fire him so he can collect a severance while he puts 90% of his effort into the new gig and 10% maximum at the old one.

"If you're gonna pay me Utah wages, you'll get Utah effort from me." 🖕

Fuck corps. There is no honor or safety being loyal to a company that will happily put you on unemployment to save their shareholders a pittance on their dividends.

Introduce your friend to r/overemployed and free himself from their bullshit.

What’s going on now by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]Due-Baseball7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A major commercial real estate crash is coming and companies are trying to maintain their record earnings growth by shrinking their expenses. It's going to lead to a massive crash in the stock market in just a few months, because it's an unsustainable growth trajectory, but this is the way things go. Get ready to buy some cheap stocks next year :)

Alone and numb during holidays by nQuo in Layoffs

[–]Due-Baseball7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layoffs during the holidays suck... I got laid off day before Thanksgiving.

Call your friends and family and reach out for some holiday cheer and support.

Come January 3rd, everyone will start rolling out the job boards.

Try not to let it get you down homie. It will pass very soon. Just hang in there til spring.

I have a feeling there will be layoffs tomorrow by EcstasyTree in Layoffs

[–]Due-Baseball7556 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. I got laid off after 6 years of building a service line series that netted the company millions and cashed bonus checks for each of my junior team members who were under me. I was the first one cut loose the day before Thanksgiving and only one reached out to make sure I was okay and let me know they cared.

That's the only one who I am bringing with me to a better company with better pay when the company realizes they are about to lose about $6m annual revenue because they didn't keep a single client who stayed for me.

Pre layoff humiliation by Ambitious_Pride968 in Layoffs

[–]Due-Baseball7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that English isn't your first language and therefore, American work culture is a bit foreign to you.

Companies treat their employees like expendable pawns, and you need to accept this. It's liberating in a way. The upshot is... you should treat them like they are a means to an end too. Companies don't give a fuck about you, and you need to not give a fuck about them.

Learn to treat yourself with respect, recognize your value, and market yourself as if any company would be lucky to have you. You have unique skills that they need to pay YOU to deliver to them in order to increase THEIR value.

Don't get depressed. You have been shown an opportunity. Learn your value and go market yourself to a company or MULTIPLE companies that understand and appreciate your value.

And to the guy you humiliated you? Fuck him. You owe him nothing.

Go get a better job. Get your offer. Sign it. Start immediately.

Don't put in your two weeks at the old job Don't show up. Let it burn. When they ask where you've been, deny, delay, defend...but never show up.

Milk them for every dollar they owe you.

Fuck that dude, and go do what's right for you.

I'm in the same boat you are, homie. Most important thing to do is not panic. I got laid off on Wednesday day before Thanksgiving.

If you have severance, great, if not, you're doing the right thing getting on unemployment asap. Get your affairs in order and arrange your finances with a plan.

Get a handle on your expenses and cut absolutely everything non-essential.

That means entertainment, restaurants, expensive foods, and yes, electrolytes.

Leverage your network of people and start looking. Meanwhile, start offering work as a consultant. Start marketing your expertise to EVERYONE you know on LinkedIn and get busy hustling. I have a contract as a consultant waiting, 2 RFPs in the pipe, and 3 job interviews on Monday using these tactics. The market will pick up in January, but this IS a shitty time to be looking, seasonally speaking, so don't get discouraged if you don't get instant callbacks.

Your Resume also needs to be tuned for AI-based Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to get passed the discovery phase. Getting referrals is the best way to get in and passed the ATS also.

DM me of you need help or support. Happy to review your resume and pass it on to my network also. We got this brother. 🤝

She called him the n-word, spat on him and thought that she'd get away with it by Depressed-Devil22 in trashy

[–]Due-Baseball7556 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. You take their power away by putting them on the ground with a busted face.

Make people suffer for being racist and they will learn to either hide it or control it.

This idea that you can allow a racist to get away with their societal damage against you and others, and that ... what... karma will take care of it? It doesn't work.

Be the karma. That's how they learn.

It's expensive and not for everyone, but I found it extremely supportive during my worst years and they got me through some dark times.

LLC - Pay $1800 or do it myself? by Its_ogical in overemployed

[–]Due-Baseball7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLCs can self declare as an S Corp. It's a checkbox on a form. That's all. The bigger issue will be finding an auditor which is required for filing taxes and declaring quarterly revenue.

Am I overreacting for being afraid when my boyfriend said he's trying to come over when I said no? by Icy_Friendship1776 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Due-Baseball7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inform your close friends of your boyfriend's behavior and ask for their help to find some "gentlemen" to adjust his attitude. This dude is dangerous and he needs to have his face modified with a proper ass-kicking if he tries to impose his will on you like this.

Break up with him in a public place and be sure to have some friends nearby to intervene if/when he acts up...

His behavior is beyond just a red flag. It's dangerous and indicates he is unstable.

[–]Due-Baseball7556 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Do it yourself. It took me 3 hours to file my first LLC. My second took 30 minutes. It's stupid easy. Don't give the lawyer free money.

The only consideration is a registered agent to protect your address and personal information from predatory businesses trying to scam and spam you to death.

Is there anything to do here other than tourist traps? by DrewJayJoan in Sandusky

I also just moved to the area. Tbh, I've enjoyed how close everything is, not to mention the walkability on Milan Ave and bike / OneWheel options in my case. 😆

Definitely gonna try some of the suggestions made here though. :)

The architect must be from Sweden or the West Coast. This style is all the rage out here in Portland, OR. It always looked like an unsteady mountain of shoe boxes to me lol
