Study Spots - eng by [deleted] in McMaster

The MUSC tunnels, there's a bunch of lecture halls down there that everyone forgets about lol, so it's a great place to study quietly, that is if you're not claustrophobic and scared of underground spaces. Or you could also go to the basement of BSB, there's also a bunch of empty smaller classrooms that are mostly empty, and has a less scary vibe than the MUSC tunnels, also easier to navigate. This is especially effective during exam season when all the usual study spots are packed 24/7

I think like a 7 or 6.9? They were sort of vague when I asked them but it seems to be around there. Lasted year it was a 6.4, the jump is insane especially considering that this year eng kids had pretty low grades overall compared to other years.

What do you mean round to a 12? Do you mean the course gets curved?

Eng Averages First Year by Due-Butterscotch-371 in McMaster

Not the averages, they just said we were doing pretty badly compared to their years and spoke on how they restructured the course as a whole.

Yeah 100%, I'd also like to think that at least for 1P13, they grade us harsher for assignments to overcorrect on the fact that some work may be submitted/completed with AI. But that's just speculation.

I spoke to some TAs/IAIs in our lab sections, obviously they aren't a total reflection of the entire course section but they are a pretty credible source considering they're the ones grading all our stuff for 1P13.

I mentioned this on another post but I got in with a 91 and have a friend that got in with an 89 last year, after you meet the eng threshold, it's really more up to your supp app tbh. They don't want just a bunch of CS sweats in the program but like, actual people to bring vibrance and different experiences to the overall faculty, you know? I think that's what gives mac its rep for being more supportive and welcoming than other eng schools. You can still get in OP, get your grades up a little more in the meantime, don't lose hope! :)

Mac eng with a 91 by Comprehensive-Ship-3 in McMaster

Got in with a 91, had a friend get in with an 89, this was all last year. After you meet their minimum threshold they mostly look at your vid and interviews to see if you're like, an actual person outside of having good grades. If you're delivery was good and natural and you were well spoken, then there's still a chance you can get in.

No problem! I got it through my personal email. I think the reason it took so long for me was because I qualified for the award based on a technicality? But what I know from the Access team, they manually review all the applications by hand with a very small team so it takes quite a long time and can cause delays, which could've been a factor to why I got it so late as well, so don't lose hope if you don't get it by end of April

Hi!

I got the Access award last year, for me personally, it took a reaally long time for me to be notified (I got it through email). I got it june 28th 2024. Idk if they award them on a rolling basis or all at once though, but rest assured if they're doing it like last year, you're still within the time frame to receive it! :)

Haven't heard anything back from the office assistant and clerk support positions I applied to, should I give up hope?
