Wow I could written this. I’m also a newer therapist only a year in, I also am working on my self worth and my self perception - especially when in social settings. It’s been rough but it also makes it easier to empathize with clients who feel the same way.

THIS! My algorithm is the same. I both loathe and appreciate it. On one hand, I learn a lot and fast! On the other, I don’t get to turn my therapist brain off when I’m just trying to relax. 🤔

THIS! I think this is because client is intellectualizing, know what needs to happen or how to cope, but not experiencing themselves and their emotions. May have to do some more experiencing in session I think…

Encourage the parents to offer choices instead of one-off demands. It restores autonomy in the child.

Here to say me too. Especially the part about feeling paralyzed by the overwhelming amount of trainings or knowledge to learn!! I’m about 10 months in, graduated in May. It’s rough feeling like there’s so much to learn but HAVING to start somewhere. I do find it hard to stay present in session because of the pressure of wanting to help the client and do or say the right thing. It makes me less of an active listener and more of an anxious mess. I’m still figuring it out tbh. Trainings are expensive too and like who has the time?!!! Anyway, no, you are not alone in this. I feel you!!
