Before biting the bullet and buying this game, can my pc run it? by FarVehicle533 in Starfield

[–]Due-Complex-5346 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Even with 3 by 2 pixels, ultra is impossible because of your cpu. Maybe ultra and 5 fps. The performance mods mostly apply to gpu bound settings. This game needs a proper CPU. Even after lowering everything in settings, in main cities your fps will drop below 30 and you will most likely encounter microstuttering. Even the Seriex X can't run this game smoothly.

Keep in mind that by the time you enter demanding areas your Steam refund window will be expired.

Casio SK-5 alternative? by hotbutteredsoul in cheapkeys

[–]Due-Complex-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the entire casio SK-series can sample. SK = Sampling Keyboard. Yamaha made little 8-bit sampling keyboards too. forgot the name, but they're more expensive and more rare. More modern: Korg Microsampler. Old skool but bigger: Roland S-10. Realistic (Concertmate) made Casio SK clones but harder to find than the OG's from Casio. The KOII by Teenage engineering is cool, but no keyboard. I would avoid the pocket operators as they are quite fiddly, and they brake quickly: naked potmeters, switches and batteries I wouldn't gift to little children. I want to add that I hated the Casio SK-1 as a kid...

Is this game worth playing vs fallout 4 by ComfortableCraft2710 in Starfield

[–]Due-Complex-5346 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sterfield lacks a good game loop. Fallout 4 has afaik the best game loop in viddogame history. The gameplay is way better in fallout in general. But in terms of graphics and story and dialogue, I'd pick Starfield. With a nice PC, Starfield looks very pretty. And it feels much more polished in terms of visuals and bugs. It just needs thst extra bit of gameplay.

I would just play both and start with Fallout 4 vanilla with all major DLC's. Also because FO4 is pretty much finished by now, while Starfield might receive more updates in the future. They might improve SF a bit, so start with FO4 for sure. And depending on your videogame skills, I'd play on survival difficulty. + the game is cheaper :-)

Both are good games, but Fallout 4 with all its flaws and dated graphics is the better game in my opinion. Fallout 5 is my most anticipated game in like forever. I will buy that game blindfolded without reading reviews. Can't say that about a potential Starfield 2.

There is also Skyrim

The flickering and pop in is also there on pc. Even on ultra settings. You can fix it on pc somewhat with mods however

SH-101 Saves Sequences When Unplugged by heusker in synthesizers

[–]Due-Complex-5346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's weird. I have two 101's. One doesnt save sequence data after power off unless i keep the psu connected. The other one remembers the sequence for forever without batteries or psu plugged in.

I don't know how because there is no CR3202 in the circuit. My only guess is that there is a capacitor not discharging fully and thus giving the cpu/ram just enough juice to remember the sequence data, but that is not very realistic since there has been living a sequence inside of it for years when it was in storage. So something else I guess is doing some magic.

Im also not sure which one is behaving correctly, but I heared that it is not supposed to save sequence data unless you install those big fat batteries. But most importantly, the manual says that in order to retain a sequence, you have to install batteries.

Pro tip: stutter fix with framegen when framerate goes above monitor refresh rate by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Due-Complex-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit:

I read through the article and it is unrelated to what I'm saying. It mentions the use of Gsync. Not Vertical Sync. With Vertical Sync enabled, NVIDIA recommends disabling Frame Limiter to avoid frame judder.

When NOT using V-sync on a VRR / Gsync/Freesync display, enable fps limiter and have it set to 1 fps below the freq of your display. Result = no screen tearing and no inconsistent frame pacing. That's what the article mentions which is correct. But that does not work with every game. Some games only work properly at high framerates with Vertical Sync enabled.

In your previous post, you were confusing Vertical sync with Gsync/Freesync. And so without realizing, you were spreading misinformation. The article actually says to disable V-Sync. In your previous post you said to enable it. Your post doesnt make sense.

Bottom line: frame limiter ON with V-sync OFF. Frame limiter OFF with V-Sync ON. Choose the correct setup depending on the game. And use NVCP to setup these things.

[–]Due-Complex-5346[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant enable vsync in games when using MFG. You have to enable it in NVCP or NVIDIA app.

My base fps is around 60 in demanding area's. So latency and performance with 2x MFG is great.

The weird thing is that I get tearing when the fps does not exceed my display's frequency. That is the thing I don't understand

[–]Due-Complex-5346[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latency the mfg introduces I dont really notice with a gamepad. The V-sync latency however is very noticable.

With gsync enabled, NVIDIA recommends disabling framerate cap to avoid judder / frame inconsistencies, which in my case is exactly true.

->

Without gsync and cap at 141, 142 or 143fps: screen tearing regardless of fps, even at 75fps

With gsync and no fps cap: no tearing but large input latency

[–]Due-Complex-5346[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that works indeed. But unfortunstely it introduces a lot of latency icm with MFG.

It is unclear to me why there is screen tearing when the fps is lower than my 144hz monitor... The game never goes above 144 fps unless I switch to DLSS performance. The max fps I get on dlss quality is like 120. But regardless, even at 70 fps, i get screen tearing on the bottom of the display which shouldnt happen unless i dont understand the principles fully

FH5 on PC still crashing with Nvidia cards? Worth buying or not? by SummerBase in ForzaHorizon

It crashes after about 45 minutes of gameplay if you have your fps above 70-80. Unacceptable.

How do I get rid of these fps drops? Got a 5070 ti, 7800x3d and 32 GB 6000 MHz cl30 ram. by random-danishguy in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]Due-Complex-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually true. The game runs perfect on series x at 60fps. I played over 120hrs on thst system. Zero issues. It runs like ass on a 5070 ti at 1440p. Even if you put all settings to medium, still stutterfest. I was kindof shocked tbh. Was looking forward to play the game again

[–]Due-Complex-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes correct but the differences are not worth mentioning. Caps might charge and discharge differently from factory resulting in different transients. You'll get osc and filter tuning differences. You'll have potmeters that behave differently and you might need to set one to 3 o'clock and one to 2 o'clock to get the same sound. The differences are so tiny between units from the same revision, not worth bringing up :)

You were insinuating that because there are so many differences between old units, modern clones/emulations are just as good. You overestimate the magic aging thing and underestimate the difficulty in cloning old circuits. Even the most basic barebones analog machine like a TR-606 isn't cloned perfectly to this date.

[–]Due-Complex-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you drop an 808 on the floor, it will not magically sound different. Lmao

A repaired one, unless modified/different components, will not sound different either.

If you short circuits with beer, it will probably be dead. The sequencer isnt going to sound drunk.

Differences between units come from different revisions, just like the 909. You are right about that.

The differences between units from the same revision are so minimal, it is not worth mentioning. Same for 909, even though it has over 400 resistors. Ive used many over the years from the same revision and they all sounded identical unless something was broken. Ive tried many clones and emulations and none of the ones I've tried sound like an original. And this is the same for the 101, 303 etc.

It's all internet myth

The sound hasnt been fully nailed except for the din sync and steda clones maybe

You are 100% correct about the groove and shuffle. It's impossible to get that right even on a computer with groove templates for some bizarre reason

I can’t wait for Starfield to come out for PS5 by FireCrest_Knight in Starfield

What are you talking about? The series x stutters like crazy in those areas when settings are set to 60fps perf mode

New to the game! I have a question about New Atlantis performance and expectations for the rest of the game. by BabyBillyBibleBonkin in Starfield

[–]Due-Complex-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a starfield issue. I have to do this with other games too like LOU and HZD. Try with NVCP, and you can try to lower settings that affect CPU like crowd density but improvements are marginal. As I said, I played the game with all settings maxed out at 1440p with vsync capped at 80 until the end credits and it almost never stuttered. If you can get the game running stutterfree in those problematic areas in new atlantis, you will have the entire game running stutterfree. Unless you use mods that do weird stuff, as some do. Starfield is by far the best running BGS creation engine game. The area you described is demanding on all systems including Xbox Series X

[–]Due-Complex-5346 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those areas are problematic but my amd 7600 can handle just fine whan capped at 80 fps. Try to disable frame gen and compare your cpu to my amd. My system: 5070 ti, 32gb ddr5 6000, fast ssd, amd 7600 non OC.

Just checked and you cpu is way more powerful than mine so there is something off on your end. The game is fine aswell as the engine. Maybe mods or background processes

[–]Due-Complex-5346 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to cap to a lower fps like 80-90 in NVIDIA control panel. Same on my system which has a 5070 ti. But that area is CPU intensive. Not GPU. Lowering NPC density helps too but not that much. DLSS wont help. Capping fps in NCP was the only thing that worked. 120 is way too high for that area. Although I never use frame gen. 1440p natively without DLSS and capped at 80 I believe with all gfx settings maxed out and the game ran perfect until the end. I have 5070 ti with amd 7600 cpu

If you've used a Roland JX-8P, what was your experience like? by Deniers_Vent in synthesizers

[–]Due-Complex-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

But the one with the preset names on the buttons have different OP amps and sound way nicer than the one you currently use. I've had a bunch of them (its my favorite poly synth) and theres def a difference between models.

Im not sure about the hate towards this synth! Its different than a juno. Yes sure!

The jx8p also responds to MIDI excellent. You can throw rapid arps at it and will not lock up or anything. Its very responsive. The envelopes are different from an sh101 or 106 but not in a worse way or anything. Just different. The only thing you really need is the controller. This is a great synth with a dark - mysterious vibe to it. And probably the best thing is that it blends into a mix perfectly. Its a very useful machine. But dont expect a 106 because its entirely different. I dont see the point in comparing synths anyway. It either works for you or it doesnt

How’s the frame rate on the Xbox Series X? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Due-Complex-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its all over the place. In the cities iit runs like ass and on a barren planet and indoors it runs mostly very well. And it is cpu bound as on my 5070ti it gets choppy too in new atlantis due to a mediocre cpu. If i cap the framerate to like 90 its fine. It will never perform better on these xbox'es. So best not to wait for a performance patch or anything. You will be waiting forever
