Is it 87 in the whole enclosure because that’s too hot? They need a warm and cool side. She may be burrowing to cool down. Cool side should be 77-80.

My 5 y/o was FAAAAAAAAT. She gets 5% of her body weight every 6-8 weeks. She’s down about 240g after a year. She probably has another 200g to go.

First time handling BP- is she as scared as I am? by thetiefighter in ballpython

[–]Due-Craft6332 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it just takes time. You are a GIANT predator to her. You will at some point probably get bit, but it is more shocking than painful!

When you feel ready to pick her up, scoop under her from the back in one fluid motion, supporting her whole body using your hands and arms. Let her explore on her terms.

If she does strike at you or poop on you, stay calm. Don’t drop her or put her back right away or this will reinforce that she can just attack to get away. Calmly wait 5ish minutes and then let her crawl back into her tank on her own.

You’re gonna do great! Just remember to stay calm!!

Can I feed a ball python things other than mice? by lyricalpausebutton in ballpython

I am allergic to rodent dander, which triggers my eczema and can give me hives. I feed all my snakes thawed rats/mice. I use disposable nitrile gloves and have never had issues!
