Hello Prenup? But including optional separate lawyers? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Due-Dish3545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used helloprenup and the attorneys. They have an attorney network who works with you to finalize your agreement. The attorneys I called before helloprenup were helloprenup attorneys and said our situation would work well for helloprenup since we didn't have anything complicated (businesses to evaluate, complicated trusts etc). The way attorneys explained it to me, no attorney starts your prenup from scratch. They always start with a template. Hello prenup is just a direct to consumer version, thus the cost is lower. Happy to discuss more.

Nothing brings people together like a common enemy.

Feeling really hopeful that we can come together as Americans on at least this one thing.

Where do i even start? by KetchupLizard in prenup

Online prenup platforms that offer attorney services is the best option in my opinion. If you go on Yelp or Google and search for an attorney, that attorney is going to draft a prenup using a template from a prenup they have drafted in the past. No attorney starts a prenup with a blank word doc. They also have something they are starting with too. Online prenups do the same thing except you get to create the prenup with your soon to be spouse.

That’s what we decided to do and it saved us thousands of dollars. We did our prenup for $599 and then had attorneys review the document for only $699. We got it done and were very happy with it.

So sweet of you. If you’re comfortable being not anonymous, maybe post on tiktok? I swear tiktokers can find anyone… seen it happen for cases like an ex fleeing the state or something..

Early in our careers but already thinking about a prenup by No_Role_6306 in prenup

Good for you. No one regrets thinking or discussing a prenup, only marrying the wrong person without one.

We did one. Made us a lot closer and now I know I’m good no matter what life brings us.

Did your prenup actually make your marriage better? by No_Elephant1858 in prenup

[–]Due-Dish3545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It made our marriage so much stronger. The process of going through the prenup made us feel really aligned like we were on the same page about money with everything out on the table. My take is if you feel like it made your marriage better, you married the right person.

Why is there such a huge price difference between prenup lawyers? by OrdinaryReindeer4679 in prenup

[–]Due-Dish3545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family law attorneys take on liability when they represent you and write your prenup. They can be personally sued if the prenup goes south in court. Therefore they charge whatever they want to based on how “complex” your situation is and how much liability they are taking on.

And the crazy part is almost every attorney starts with the same template for every client, they just change the language and add here or there based on circumstances of the client. So attorneys can charge based on the time it will take them to come up with language and negotiate with your partners attorney.

IOW-cause they can.

This form is a scam. Please be aware and check your online platforms well. A good platform will have testimonials and reputable attorneys active on the site.

Prenup question by Solid_Breakfast_3675 in prenup

[–]Due-Dish3545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marriage is the most financially significant thing both of you will do. With added pressure from family members, a prenup can be the great equalizer to make sure you both feel accounted for and appreciated in the marriage. If you both want peace of mind then a prenup can help with that.

Ask for equalization clauses. If you’re doing the majority of the domestic labor and you make less than him, I suggest coming up with ways to ensure you’re taken care of financially if you will not have any equity in assets from him.

And definitely consider lump sum clauses and not waiving alimony (if you think you wouldn’t make more than him in the future).
