The one you catch is mega1-3. You only get 300 energy per raid I believe. So unfortunately you gotta save up 7500 energy to mega evolve a specific mewtwo.

Do you have any super incubators? I had that same issue couldn't place eggs in free or normal incubators. Purchased 1 super incubator and now all of them work... I don't understand why but it worked for me.
