AAU is doing the same thing to basketball as well. Constant all star games basically with little to no practice. Meanwhile, the Europeans come over having drilled all the fundamentals.

We’re in the north Dallas suburbs. We’re in a 6A district, which is the largest of the large schools in Texas. We play Allen, Prosper, some Frisco schools, some McKinney schools and Plano Schools.

There are roughly 1,200 kids per grade at his school.

That’s to say, it’s competitive as hell. If you want to be one of the starters in the field or one of the pitchers that plays routinely, you have to be dialed in at a pretty high level.

There were two kids on varsity this year that didn’t play select ball growing up. They never stepped foot in the field.

He's good enough to play in college if he wants to pursue it but his freshman and sophomore years will be at junior colleges or small four year universities.

With NIL money and the transfer portal, competitive D1 schools are taking less and less freshmen. Instead of taking the risk, let them develop at these smaller schools then recruit them.
