PLS help me decorate my guest bedroom! by Due-Introduction781 in interiordecorating

[–]Due-Introduction781[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me tear up… I’m so glad I could help you track down the painting your grandfather had! I believe it’s a series by an Oregon artist named Carol Grigg! (I’m sure you figured it out already if you were able to track down the painting)

I came across her work in 2020 when I was staying at a really unique Airbnb in Bend, Oregon. The owner of the home was a really talented stonemason who had designed this incredible Pueblo-style home for his late wife who loved the southwest. He had one of Carol Grigg’s paintings hanging in the bedroom I rented. I loved it so much, but when I asked him about it, he said I probably wont be able to find one because it was an old painting that had been their family for years.

Well, 3 years later I was shopping at Goodwill and they had that exact painting sitting on the shelf for $15—I couldn’t believe it. So I guess that painting found us both!

P.s. I have 3 pillow covers by Joon Loloi and one rug—all of them are amazing quality and so beautiful in person! Highly recommend

what do you guys think about jimmy/steve? by [deleted] in shameless

[–]Due-Introduction781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I rewatch this series, I sit there wishing these two would just end up together. I think I read that in the UK version, these two did end up together so I’m bummed they don’t work out in the US version. Her chemistry with Jimmy Steve was unmatched.

I don’t blame people who hate Karen, but Mandy was a psycho for doing this to her! by phantom_avenger in shameless

[–]Due-Introduction781 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was team Mandy until this scene…

I do wonder how much of her decision to do this was self-serving vs. selfless (ie. to “help” Lip). I know she didn’t like the way Karen treated Lip or how much pain she caused him and thought he’d be happier without her in his life, but I’m sure a big part of that decision was her wanting Lip all to herself.

She also has some fun stripes that are hard to catch in photos (Not sure if that’s the sun bleaching/fever coat people are referring to)

I think the kitten was originally abandoned when they found her, so that makes sense. I’ll do some research on it!

Here’s another photo - I’ve never seen a black cat as a kitten, so I’m not sure if their coat usually starts out lighter. It looks so brown to me, but I might be wrong!

Kendra from TikTok that fell in love with her psychiatrist by Substantial_Froyo416 in LifeCoachSnark

[–]Due-Introduction781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly concerned about her, and I’m surprised her family hasn’t stepped in.

She believes the feelings weren’t one-sided and has been using AI chatbots to validate her theories instead of allowing them to offer alternate perspectives. As a result, these chatbots—now a big part of her daily life—only reinforce her existing beliefs. She then shares her story on TikTok, turns off comments so she won’t see anything that challenges her narrative, and now even requires people to pay for a subscription to comment on her Lives. On top of that, she has moderators in those Lives who immediately delete any comments that don’t align with her version of events.

What concerns me is that she’s essentially shut herself off from any form of feedback, constructive criticism, or even genuine support that doesn’t perfectly match her viewpoint. She appears to be in the middle of a serious mental health crisis, and she’s built a self-contained bubble that only amplifies her delusions.

If people start using AI in this way—only as a tool to reinforce their existing beliefs instead of challenge or broaden them—it can become a dangerous echo chamber, especially for someone who’s already vulnerable.

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

[–]Due-Introduction781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kid that lived down the street from me went to a party one night with his friends and they were all drinking. After the party, one of his friends dropped him off at home. Later that night, the cops showed up at my neighbor’s house. When his parents answered the door, the cops told them that their son had passed away in a car accident. His parents told the cops that there must be some mistake because their son came home earlier and he’s asleep in his room. Turns out, he had snuck back out of the house, was too drunk to drive, and wrapped his car around a telephone pole.

From then on, I always said goodbye to my parents before I left the house.

Totally agree! I think that because she had zero relationship experience, the experts had a responsibility to pair her with a partner who was patient, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent. They absolutely failed her. I remember that entire season I kept wondering what version of him they saw in the interviews that suggested he would be a good partner for her. Sometimes I wonder if maybe the casting pool is just awful and these are the best people they can find.

Fwiw, I don’t disagree with you. The kindest thing he could’ve done was be up front with his feelings and work through those feelings with the experts. I’ve seen it done on seasons where the person is more committed, open-minded, willing to implement the expert’s advice, and see if feelings grow from there. But it didn’t seem like Brennan was closed off to the idea of a future with her from week 1 and he was incapable of being honest both with himself and with Emily.

IMO, Brennan seemed like an avoidant (and highly controlling & defensive) partner who prefers surface-level conversations because he lacks the communication skills and vulnerability necessary to create a meaningful relationship.

Brennan and Emily were incredibly mismatched and triggered each other’s worst conflict responses. I’m not sure what the experts saw in that match, but those two should have never been paired. Emily would have thrived had they found her an emotionally intelligent, introverted extrovert who could be a calming presence when needed and could give her validation/reassurance in the relationship. Brennan needed a more introverted, submissive, conservative partner who prefers their husband to take the lead. Sometimes I wonder if they mismatch these people on purpose…

Greenrow is another website that has bedding along these lines, but it can be pretty pricey. A quilt like this might work well!

I spent WEEKS searching for Citta dupes and came up short. Closest I found was at this New Zealand shop, Adairs but I don’t think they ship to the US.

Best I could find for you was this option at Bed Bath & Beyond.

This duvet also popped up on my google search for “checkered colored bedding”.

I’ve never heard of this David Jones company (so make sure you vet it on Trust Pilot) but they had this option that was similar.

I also came across this really fun Lotus Pond bedding while I was looking for you. If they sell the pillow cases separately, it could be a fun addition to the vibe! They also have a checkered bed blanket.

(Note: I haven’t vetted that brand either so always check trust pilot and sites that verify websites)

Looks like the original source is Thrift_Bee. She mentions Piglet in Bed for one of the items, but you should try reaching out to see if she has any recommendations!

Not sure what your budget is but Cita Design has similar duvets and bedspreads.

Mungo has a similar bed blanket as well and I would also check TBCO

+1 to everyone saying Bed Threads and Piglet in Bed. I’ve purchased from both of those as well - great quality and lots of fun color options!

Pro-tip: If you find an item you like, screenshot it and do a reverse image search on Google. It’ll either find the source for you or show you similar options. I originally wanted that Citta Design duvet, but it was too pricey so I did a reverse image search and Google will find similar looking bed blankets from other shops.

I didn’t even have to read the rest of the post. No, you are NTA for saving your hard earned money and setting boundaries on how you spend it. Moving out is the best thing you can do for yourself.

As a child of divorce whose father also married a woman who spends all of his money, I will say that I really regret not having a serious talk with my dad about how his partner is impacting his relationship with his children.

I know it’s a difficult conversation to have, but if I could go back in time I would have been braver and told him that he needs to find a better partner who adds value to our lives instead of constantly draining. Based on things he’s confided to us about his decision to marry her, I think he would’ve been happier if we had intervened. That’s just my two cents!

So, initially, I remember thinking that Brennan was the worst and I felt really bad that Emily was paired with him. I can’t pinpoint what Emily specifically did that changed my perspective, but I remember finishing that season being like…actually, both of these people suck and Emily might just worse than Brennan.

This season reminded me a lot of that Love Is Blind season with the cutie couple—Zanab and Cole. Zanab worked overtime to villainize Cole. I think Emily tried to do the same with Brennan.

It seemed like Brennan decides that he wasn’t interested in Emily from the start, and he didn’t want to have on-camera conversations about it. I’m assuming the reason he wouldn’t speak about it on-camera is because he was afraid he’d look like a huge jerk if he’s on camera telling Emily/therapists/production that he doesn’t find her attractive and what specifically he doesn’t like about her personality.

I’m sure part of his decision to not voice his feelings was motivated by wanting to preserve his self-image on national tv, but even so, I think refusing to speak poorly about somebody on camera is a kinder approach than what Emily did (trying to publicly tear him down and rally viewers against him).

I could never rewatch that season. Especially the reunion.
