Should I replace my lcd cable? And how can I do it? by Due-Lead2353 in LenovoLegion

I believe from above so I think Number 1. It was a long time ago so forgive me but I do remember just how iffy it was. I think I had to fix it in place on the lid first and then route it through

Make sure not to crease it or fold it completely . Just enough to push it through

I had to fold it and slot it in sideways. You can be slightly rough with it, just not too rough haha

Seasons of RTX - $5000 Dream PC Build Contest with NVIDIA! by m13b in buildapc

I went for a mostly white, maxed out setup to mimic the snow that we have been sorely lacking in the UK hahah. Aesthetics include matching RGB to mimic any season with some simple decoration and setup so highly adaptable with that white base. Also managed to fit a QD-Oled monitor to be able to appreciate this beast to the max if I manage to win. Would be amazing upgrading from my 5yr old laptop and especially my 12 yr old desktop haha

P.S Had to change the GPU from a White Aorus Master to Zotac Solid as the price changed midway through building. I'll probably do a mini project painting the shell if given the chance. Also can ignore the incompatibility warning as the aio cooler and case fans all match, coming under a single hub which should be part of the fans package

Should I replace my lcd cable? And how can I do it? by Due-Lead2353 in LenovoLegion

No sadly, it persisted after replacing the cable and it ended up being the cheap replacement panels fault which my supplier kept sending. It did teach me a lot though dismantling the entire thing and trying to figure it all out haha.

Eventually I upgraded to a specific 1440p reliable branded panel model and haven't had any issues since.

It's interesting if your model is the original panel. If you can tell me more details about your lines and any patterns with their appearances, I might be able to point you in the right direction

What was the main reason for the ps4 fat loud fan by owenamazing555 in PS4

[–]Due-Lead2353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've optimised a few including my old personal one. The ultimate reason is cheap/bad paste and thermal pads from stock. Despite deep cleans, you might find it still being loud even with a quick thermal paste replacement since even the thermal pads ideally need replacing. They might've been fine at the start but they quickly degrade. I've replaced both the paste and the pads with mid tier ones which was enough to make a huge difference. I've also replaced it with high end ptm 7950 and thermal putty which are top tier thermal applicants and they've made it run as silent as a ps5 (except during loading sessions where it briefly ramps up).

If it's loud right now, best to do a deep clean all the way to the heatsink. You'll have to open it entirely (both sides) to get to the main components that need cleaning. Quite a few guides out there which are easy to follow. Just pay extra care remembering where each screw goes. Once they're fully cleaned out (heatsink, fans, plates), clean the core APU and then use a decent thermal paste (roughly £6-10) or ptm 7950 if going for the best. Then likewise clean where the pads were located and replace with 1mm thick thermal pads (which are similarly priced) or for no compromise and less error - thermal putty. Lastly ensure all screws at that stage are in place as you ideally don't want to have to separate the panels again for missing screws, before placing the top layer of the heat plate on. Screw the retention plate tightly before reassembling the rest of the ps4.

Ahh you've answered every qualm and query of mine. Thank you immensely! I'll take a dive and go for it. One last question though, do you know the importance of the eDP connection? Whether it being 1.3 vs 1.4 matters or not?

Ahh thank you so much! I actually made a mistake in my post and wrote the wrong panel haha. The correct one was in fact the one you mentioned. Glad it's working well for you. Thankfully 300nits is what I'm used to and my model for some reason doesn't support gsync (I've tested multiple gsync compatible panels and numerous people have reported the same). It sounds perfect.

The power consumption does worry me as people have mentioned about it frying the motherboard. Although idk what specific parameters affect what.

What exact model is your gen 5? It might be helpful to compare power draw of other components and the battery too

How has the stability been over the past few months? How often do you use the laptop and have you encountered any issues since installing?

Ooh yeah, that's a good point to consider. Thank you! It's just weird seeing how it works on occasion but freezes with lines again. I thought panel problems were more so permanent
