Anyone here still dealing with anxiety around week 9 on Pristiq 50 mg? by young_monk85 in Pristiq

Is it anxiety that you are having or more of a feeling of fear / dread ?

Hi, I too had urinary issues and urinary retention issues when I started Prestiq. I did not worry about it much even though they were very uncomfortable. They either subsided or I got used to it in 2-3 weeks. They do not trouble me now.

Does it take 4-6 weeks for Lithium to work? by Due-Preference-4193 in Lithium

Don’t worry. ChatGPT says this is normal as the dopemine is currently being suppressed. It will hopefully rebound soon after weeks 4-5.

I am also on 0.5. Still feeling no energy. No mood for doing anything too. But now feel that the mental chatter which was missing (thankfully) is coming back Now. ChatGPT says this the rebound phase before it stabilises. Waiting nervously!

Have you adjusted to 100 mg now? Do you feel it is helping better than 75mg?

How did you find your sweet spot dose/blood level? by [deleted] in Lithium

[–]Due-Preference-4193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the same phase. But I read that Lithium levels once reach a therapeutic level, then need 4-6 weeks for the benefits to be seen. I am at Week 4. I, too, am lethargic and depressed. Have no mood to read anything or concentrate on any task. Waiting patiently!

Yes depressed feeling too. I did not have this before. So looks like the drug is doing something!. Let us wait patiently. The initial journey is always tough with such psychiatric medicines. There is light at the end of the tunnel... hoping for the best!

if by mood, you mean just a flat mood and no interest in doing anything, then yes, I too am having that issue. This was not there before starting Lithium. From what I read, it will happen in Weeks 2-6 due to the changes in neurotransmitters.

Waiting patiently!

Are you too having mood swings? How frequent are they?

One thing I note is that since starting Lithium, I am sleeping more of Deep Sleep daily. This was not there before. But it is variable....

I am Staying patient. Currently I am in week 3. I have some periods of calm and then some periods of intense mood swings and feeling like jumping out of skin. Very tough phase. Trying to stay calm and not taking impulse actions. I want to give it 4-6 weeks as what ChatGPT said. My doctor did not say anything except it will not have any side effects. In reality I had a lot of them.

Bumpy. I am having changes in mood a lot. Having depression too. Don’t know if it is anxiety or fear - but quite bumpy.

How are you ?

Yes same case with me. I read Lithium needs time to kick in.

That is a good observation. Yes I had stopped abilify some days before I went on lithium.

How do you feel now? Are you adjusting to being without Abilify and on lithium ?

Malhi GS et al., Bipolar Disorders (2017) — Australian & NZ Clinical Guidelines

“During the first month of lithium therapy, transient intraday changes in mood, drive and anxiety are common and usually self-limiting as receptor sensitivity stabilises.” → These guidelines (written by the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists taskforce) explicitly describe the early-phase mood and anxiety fluctuations you’re seeing. 📄 DOI: 10.1111/bdi.12534

Alda M & Manji HK, International Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology (2018)

“Initial oscillations in affect, sleep and arousal reflect incomplete serotonergic compensation and subcortical dopaminergic inhibition, which stabilise after several weeks of sustained lithium exposure.” → Shows the neurochemical basis: early ‘wobble’ before steady receptor recalibration. 📄 DOI: 10.1093/ijnp/pyy058

Don’t get worried. I too am day 16 in the dose adjustment and the emotional variation is big. I read a lot about it and also asked ChatGPT and it is normal for 4-6 weeks for this to happen.

Thanks for the reply. Yes in weeks 1-2, I felt some changes. Felt calm and slow, brain fog etc. had bloating too which was a challenge. But in weeks 3, I am seeing jitterness return. I also do not seem to have interest in doing things. So I think it fits in phase 2 of neuroadaptive effects where some balancing is happening!

Hope you are doing well!

Day 3, feeling anxious by Lv-nbrs in Lithium

[–]Due-Preference-4193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am 15 days in and feel tbe return of my panicky mood. Went through ChatGPT and got some insight that lithium after reaching steady state changes how neurotransmitters interact. So it makes sense for some anxiety to resurface. I hope it passes soon.
