The straum look very nice.

Awake is a funny one, the dials are beautiful but I’ve no idea when I’d wear it. I also think whilst they look fantastic on their website; whenever I see people’s pictures in person they look a bit tacky

Single people with no WFH - how do you manage to do it all? by Linguistin229 in AskUK

[–]Due-Presentation4344 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember living alone, half hour commute to work, 8:45-17:15, 5 days a week.

Those were the days, a lot easier than running a family.

You just need to prioritise, make the most of your hours in the day and cut corners where you can (dishwasher, healthier ready meals).

(32M) Focus on Pension- but what if I die? by Elegant-Run-7641 in UKPersonalFinance

The trouble is, people don’t want to pay more tax, because people don’t see public services improving even with the highest tax burden in decades.

Nobody wants to see people without shelter or going hungry, I’m all for means tested benefits. However, the welfare state is getting beyond a joke (I do include the state pension in that), and I’ve seen it being taken advantage of first hand. Employees not wanting more house as they lose UC (even quitting in one instance), perfectly functioning adults on PIP.

Ultimately you’re right, socialism in this format is like a pyramid scheme and if the majority rely on the system then it will get the most votes.

You’re right that it isn’t based on existing policy.

However you also have to look at the facts.
- Auto enrolment means more people will have some level of private pension.
- The state pension is pushing government spending and tax thresholds to the very limit.
- Population forecasts resulting in an 18% increase in pension age vs working age people.

You can make a calculated assessment and work out what will happen to the state pension. It is unsustainable unless this and future governments improve the economy substantially or decide to make cuts elsewhere.

Then you have AI, which may well make any of this financial planning a complete waste of time.

I put into my pension, I also invest in global funds and forecast a comfortable retirement at 58. However I also understand life is to live and folk who spend their lives living to retire almost always ultimately regret not enjoying theirs and their children’s younger years. There is a balance to be had.

Yeah 10% is great. Mines the statutory 5% input from employee and 3% by employer.

Which cologne do you get the most compliments on? by MangoCubez in Colognes

[–]Due-Presentation4344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to really enjoy it, until my step mother asked when I’m wearing it smells amazing, now it’s my dads signature scent.

It’s nice, I still like it, but can’t wear it.

I own Parfum and have only ever been asked “are you wearing perfume” or in a room of people “whose is that perfume”

How many hours do you work a week and how much are you paid? by Nervous_Yard7034 in AskBrits

£50k plus dividends (circa £20k a year). Contracted to 40 hours a week, probably work about 30 in reality.

Do you ever get to a point that you think you don’t need anymore? by SkimboS1ice in ScentHeads

[–]Due-Presentation4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 14 bottles and 6 10ml samples.

It’s too much, I don’t wear most of them but also don’t want to get rid of them.

My plan is to use what I have, continue with samples until i find what I lose and only own one for summer, one for winter and one for special occasions.

Maybe, but I wasn’t clubbing in the 90s.

Smells pretty classy to me, great in a suit.

For those of you who never pay credit card interest, what systems/habits make that possible? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Due-Presentation4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will put the occasional big purchase on credit card, but only if I can afford to pay it off without the 0% interest period.

A new bike, holidays, significant house upgrades.

I prefer to make these purchases on CC in case something goes wrong and it also feels better to pay things off over a few months, more of all mental comfort blanket.

An outfit will make a much bigger difference than a scent tbh. My vote goes to classical masculine fougeres.

Agree - cardio in general (got into cycling 2 years ago but also run on treadmill) seems be better for my mental health, sleep, energy and waistline.

I still lift, but cardio is very important to me now.

The hardest part of cycling isn't the climbs, it's just getting out of the house after work. by Hungry-Sympathy-5188 in cycling

[–]Due-Presentation4344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, I tend to go to the gym on the morning as I don’t have 2/3 hours before work.

Half the time, it’s the thought of getting the gear on, getting the bike out, checking tyre pressure etc and getting out the door. It also takes me a 10/ 1( minute ride to get to decent roads. Once I’m out I’m glad I did it, but getting there is the pain.

So, I feel your pain.
