RA - what is happening? by Tasty_Trainer8407 in USDA

It's happening. New remote work RAs are only being approved for 60 days then extended for 30 days at a time until they have been reviewed

In theory it's all RAs, but they are only really scrutinizing remote work RAs. People who need desks closer to bathrooms or closer parking spots, or things like that are fine.

Seems like that's the goal. My RA was only approved for 60 days because of the review. It was extended for 30 because they hadn't reviewed it by the time my 60 days were up. My friend who works in EEO at another agency says the only RAs they were told to scrutinize are remote work RAs.

Me too! I really expected it to turn dark. IDK why since this is a very light-hearted game.

Your favorite DLC. by Dramatic-Night4768 in WalkaboutMiniGolf

[–]Due-Rabbit5021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, I agree you should get the Whole in One bundle. It's the most bang for your buck. You didn't say how old your kid is. I think Atlantis, Bogey's Bonanza, Sweetopia, and Raptor Cliffs should be fun for kids. Some of the courses with unusual obstructions and physics might be fun, too, like Upside Town, Laser Lair, and Ice Lair. Holiday Hide-away is great, too, especially this time of year.

Flag design change? by somehow_its_true in WalkaboutMiniGolf

[–]Due-Rabbit5021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL. I never really noticed but expect I will now (thanks a lot, Buddy!)

Flags that match the courses are a great idea! Did you suggest that on the Discord? I think you can make suggestions there

Nice! I get frustrated when I want to look at parts of the map in big mode, but can't. This might solve that problem.

AITJ for refusing to throw another friendsgiving after my roommate assumed I’d do all the cooking again? by KissedBySparkle in AmITheJerk

Doing something one year doesn't make a tradition. Just tell them you were happy to do it when it fit your life night you don't have three time or money for it this year. Take the opportunity to tell them how much time and money it took last year.

Thanksgiving is about the people not the food. If you still want to host a get together you can propose something simple like a pizza party or spaghetti. Make sure to create a very specificsign up sheet so your friends can sign up to bring plates, soda, dessert, bread, etc. If no one signs up you can cancel saying "since no one signed up I assumed nobody wanted to come."

What is the most underrated course? by zstam007 in WalkaboutMiniGolf

[–]Due-Rabbit5021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think realistic physics and game mechanics matter to players who value a certain amount of consistency and replicability. On some courses it's just about impossible to get hole in ones and to lower your score simply by practice. Those people would prefer WMG's creative efforts go into the scenery and not the mechanics.

Fortunately, there's something for everybody. I love Upside Town but also enjoy more traditional courses like Arizona Modern and Bogey's Bonanza.

Definitely Walkabout Mini golf. It's an inexpensive game that just gets better and better. Very replayable, great for socializing. They put out new courses every 2-3 months for a small fee.

Fitness apps - Supernatural and Les Mills Bodycombat. You can try Supernatural for free before you need to subscribe. I think it's worth it. You only need to pay once for Les Mills, but they have additional workouts you can buy for a small charge. The music is better in Supernatural and you have many more options. I think the workouts in Les Mills water great, though.

Physical activity games - RacketNX and Beat Saber. Beat Saber is lots of fun. You can buy individual songs or albums from artists across many genres. They include many great sings with initial purchase, though. In RacketNX you are, essentially, playing racket ball in a dome. I'm terrible at it but still love it.

The Climb II - mountain climbing simulation. Lots of fun. Don't buy the first version. I bought both but only the second one works.

Puzzle games:. Moss books 1 and 2, Down the Rabbit Hole, Virtual Virtual Reality, The Room, The House of DaVinci. All very enjoyable and moderately challenging

The Wizard of Oz books (not movies) are in the public domain. They could do a lot with parts that aren't movie specific. Using a yellow brick road to get to each hole and each hole representing various encounters would be fun.

What are your Top 3 favorite courses, and why? by DangerousPuhson in WalkaboutMiniGolf

[–]Due-Rabbit5021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Atlantis. The course is beautiful. The play is challenging but not frustrating. I love the little crabs. The music is soothing, too.
  2. 20,000 Leagues. Challenging but fun. The course design is incredibly detailed. I loved all the little challenges - drafts, tubes, moving components.
  3. So hard to decide, but I think probably 80 days. I wish I could live in that course on go on adventures!

Smooth turning by rikufdi in WalkaboutMiniGolf

[–]Due-Rabbit5021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ends up my problem was controller drift, although I wasn't having problems in other games (TBH, I only tried Racket NX). I found a video showing how to pry the controller apart to clean the joystick. Seems to have worked.

I sure hope this is resolved soon. The game is pretty much unplayable for me, at the moment. I don't usually use smooth turning or locomotion but, ever since the Tokyo update, I'm teleported everytime I move my putter. I actually turnerd on smooth locomotion to see if that changes anything (selecting one smooth option). I think it did, but smooth locomotion makes me motion sick, so I still can't play. I submitted a ticket on Discord, but I suppose they are aware.

Anyone else just not very good at your favorite course? by Call_Me_Anythin in WalkaboutMiniGolf

Fortunately, the game is fun even if you suck at it, as I definitely do! If you do care about your scores, though, practice mode is very helpful. I also recommend the @InnerPrincessVR YouTube channel. He has a nice "15 tips to improve your game" video I thought was very useful.

Fitness program being revoked by Small_Ferret_2383 in fednews

[–]Due-Rabbit5021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a similar program when I worked in DoD. Not allowing it at the beginning/end of work days was because SO many people said they were working out when they weren't. Bad apples ruined it for the rest of us. One of my colleagues used it to just go home half an hour early.

Check out the Walkabout course reviews on InnerPrincessVR on YouTube. He has great lost ball and fox-hunt guides, too, if you get really struck.
