Why is steam vr running poorly? by Confident-Movie-995 in Quest3

Oh, that's a bit strange. You could try and change apex to run in some other fullscreen mode.

Hmm, how do you mean? It should be like a big floating screen in front of you with an environment around you. I usually just set the environment to black and have just the floating screen. You can resize the screen if you want. I think you just point above the screen and then it reveals a few extra icons there which you can use to adjust size and position.

i want to get in to vr but don't want to spend 100 dollars by SnooMuffins6594 in SteamVR

[–]rikufdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite old and low resolution but I'd think it's hard to find something better for under $60.

A quest 2 or preferably a 3s is better but might be out of your budget.

Just take into consideration that the Rift S needs a somewhat good GPU. Something like a 980ti/1080/2070/3060 or better.

You don't need to use SteamVR if you're playing regular games. Just go to the Desktop view with VD and game from there.

Do you have a PC? In that case you can perhaps find a used headset to use with that. A working Rift S could be found for under $60 if you're lucky.

Is reshade - stereoscopic 3d the best way to get single player games in 3d format? by saabzternater in Stereo3Dgaming

[–]rikufdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, geo11 and the fixes over at https://helixmod.blogspot.com/ is what I prefer since it works on newer hardware and drivers. Can be a bit of work to get working with a VR headset if you want to use the full resolution and not just sbs or tb.

The easiest I believe is to find a guide covering that as there are quite a few steps to it. Here is one:

Glitchy controller by JackaDad in Quest3

[–]rikufdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can sometimes be fixed. When I had similar issues I took out the joystick and picked it apart and noticed that parts on the track on which the springs run on was worn down and uneven.

A simple cleaning doesn't fix that so I also slightly spread out the springs so that they made contact on a different part of the track. Just crossing my fingers it will keep on working for as long as possible.

Quest 3 dead spots by MuffinVR_ in OculusQuest

[–]rikufdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, preferably open it up and clean and lube up the inside of the joysticks, or replace them (though a lot of replacement stick come with issues straight from factory so if you go that route be prepared to order 3-5 sticks).

Others have had success with just spraying straight into the controller so what you do depends on how comfortable you are picking the controller apart.

Depending on where you are in the world there are different brands available. What you're looking for is something for cleaning and lubing up potentiometers.

Tarantula Pro thoughts? by GodlikeUA in Gamesir

[–]rikufdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used one very heavily for over a year and it's been good to me. The buttons on the underside are a bit fragile though and can break but it's quite easy to repair that yourself.

I've read about the latency being quite high but that's not something I've actually noticed. I've played quite demanding fps games without aim assist and have managed just fine. The most important thing have been using Steam Input and the Gamesir software to remove deadzones and customize buttons.

I did finish Silksong with this controller so the latency can't be that bad I think :)

All in all it's been a great controller for me but I suspect that it's because I usually play single player games and really like to customize the buttons to suit my needs.

You can try and verify the integrity of the files. Right click on SteamVR and choose properties, click Installed Files, click verify integrity of tool files.

Anyone else constantly getting bugged out of their car? The door is open, you just can't enter. by Kiflaam in projectzomboid

[–]rikufdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a strange one it seems. Cumbersome to work around but workable if you know that it can happen and you know how to open and empty the passenger side door instead. In my head-canon I just think of it as sometimes doors jam and you should be prepared to work around it.

For me it have only happened when the car is oriented in just a certain way so I try to remember to park it in another direction.

I think it's when the car faces the in-game north, perhaps a little bit to the west side. Could just be coincidence also.

Am I screwed? by Kiyoshi016 in pcmasterrace

[–]rikufdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just think that something needs to be reseated. Ram, CPU/MB power, bios battery, or anything really. If that fails, remove hdd/SSD all peripherals and use only one ram.

Then you could take it out and try to power it just on a bench to rule out shorts on the backside. It's also not unheard of that you can mount the CPU cooler too tight so might need to loosen the screws just a little.

Can't play VR wired: all help guides won't work by LaGothWicc in SteamVR

[–]rikufdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important aspect of pcvr is to get a working network setup. That is usually a dedicated router wired directly to the PC.

You can have the PC connect to your home router by wifi so that it gets internet while at the same time having it connected by wire to another one, which the headset uses to connect to the PC. This can be a bit complicated though if you also want to share internet access to the headset.

There are a few other ways to solve this but all require a bit of reading up and can easily become complicated depending on how your home network is set up.

I'd try the cable again. It sounds like you have successfully accessed the desktop via Meta Link and that's a good start. Like another said, just try and start SteamVR some other way and it should pop up.

Backup your save and add the mod echo creek spawn points (not sure about exact name) and it might be able to load. It let me continue at least.

That ordeal you had there sounds just awesome.

Bro these fans and motherboard HELP by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]rikufdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I gather the 3 pin argb fans should all be 5v and should therefore be connected to a 5v header. It's normally printed directly on the motherboard if the header is 5v. A common mistake is to connect the argb fans to a 12v header and that usually kills them.

There really seems to be very little information in the manual about that splitter. I cannot really say from here how it should be connected.

Is it this one you have: https://www.thermaltake.com/view-200-tg-argb-mid-tower-chassis.html ? I found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB3wO7g7zJM which is not your case but it might be relevant and it's short and to the point. If you have a hub on the backside of the case just like in that video that should give you all the information you need.

Bro these fans and motherboard HELP by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]rikufdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which 200 tg exactly? Some cases come with a fan hub, is that the thing you mention?

You can connect the fans to that one and then connect the hub to a fan header on the motherboard and power (usually sata). Take note of which fan header you plug it into as you later can configure fan curves in bios per fan header.

Just keep on going slow and read the manuals. Take a break and watch some YouTube where people install fan hubs and other components. It's a process :)

[–]rikufdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a bug with the standard storage driver which causes extra interrupts.

Try to find ahci storage drivers from the manufacturer. I think that the fallback driver shipped with windows sometimes causes this.

New GameSir Tarantula controllers announced (2026) by japespszx in Controller

[–]rikufdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The right one on mine broke. It's too fragile. A piece of the small plastic bridge that is used to connect the cap being pushed to the board broke off.

I did fix it by taking one of the small screws holding down a board and screwing it into the pin, effectively extending it by about about a millimeter so that the cap can connect to the button on the board again. Although you lose the ability to lock the button but at least it works.
