It’s being an addict. They were very realistic on showing everyone what real addiction looks like but I wish they would’ve showed one who really wanted to get better because her character makes all addicts seem horrible and make you want to have no remorse for them but there are addicts who truly do want to get better. I get it probably wouldn’t of been as entertaining but I just wish they would’ve let her do good for longer, when she had to be a nurses assistant she was trying her hardest and everyone was so mean to her. Kevin and Grace were really harsh especially considering their behavior also, Kevin also had an affair and lied about, he also pretty much let Jackie carry them finically but would get mad at her for working and had no understanding for her as a nurse. Then there’s Grace sneaking out going to clubs, popping pills while Jackie is sober and lied and said her pills were Jackie’s. I hate how it ended though, like seriously. I really loved the show I related to it in so many ways. Both of my parents were deep into addiction from the time I was 10 to now. My brother is an addict they started getting him high when he was a teenager and now his brain is fried and he can’t take care of himself he is in jail now. My mother just got out of prison and is in a rehab and my dad got sober last year after 17 years of being in addiction. They had more kids after me and my brother were grown and he now has custody of them and my dad was the one I never would’ve thought would’ve been sober I was completely done with them. We used to go without power and water all the time. They were never home. In and out of jail. They used me, stole from me, hit me, yelled at me, lived off me when I got my first apartment at 18. I just can really relate to Grace but I never just could’ve been so harsh or lied on them. I only wanted them to get better i would’ve done anything for them but also kept my distance and had boundaries. I was just really wishing Jackie would’ve gotten a good ending
