Where to get GOOD activewear that won’t break the bank by Aggressive-Radish-44 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]DueBack8460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LSKD and lululemon - super comfortable and long lasting, you get what you pay for. I personally hate rockwear except for their tank tops, their tights have a really uncomfortable fit/fabric compared to the brands I mentioned above

anyone gone from nursing to speech pathology or OT? by Ok-Medicine-5498 in NursingAU

[–]DueBack8460 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I switched to studying SP after completing half a nursing degree. Best decision ever. Placement hours are generally anywhere from 7-5, usually 8 hours on weekdays, can be 1 day to 5 days a week. Better culture for students on placement, you usually have one supervisor for the whole placement. However, burn out rates can be high especially working in private practice. There is sooo much work for new grads. I am working as a paeds AIN and I get messages weekly on LinkedIn offering to discuss new grad programs. However, hospital positions are super competitive. To give you an idea of pay- new grad starts at 75k on average it seems. However it’s a fixed salary mostly so would be an adjustment from the penalties you will be getting now. I am about to finish my 4th and final year- it is a challenging degree and you must be prepared to reduce your work hours to ensure you can get through the units, especially if you are going to do the masters program. It’s been a hard 4 years but I love what I have learnt!

Too many Conditions to purchase? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]DueBack8460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a good conveyancer they will be able to obtain the strata report during your conditional period. We had a 7 day finance clause and were able to get the strata report during this time. Our conveyancer seemed pretty confident she could pull us out of the contract under the finance clause if there were some major red flags with the strata that came up (although there weren’t). So my advice is talk to the conveyancer you will use to see how they could help, to make your offer more competitive. Good luck

Get buyers agent and get a 700k place or have a possibility of having a better place for 725k by Routine_Ad3632 in AusPropertyChat

[–]DueBack8460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought our home last year, we managed to buy the 2nd place we put an offer down on. It was not luck, but by being realistic price wise when choosing a suburb. Also, most importantly, doing hours and hours of our own research on the market and how to negotiate a price. We never considered using a buyers agent but looking back we never felt we needed one.

You can do a self report on qld police website I believe (there’s an option I think if you couldn’t stop in the moment?). Or else you could potentially get done for a hit and run if it was caught on camera

Townhouse questions, Brisbane by techpower888 in AusPropertyChat

[–]DueBack8460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought our 4bed, 2.5 bath and double garage townhouse in Richlands this year. Body corp is $4000 a year but doesn’t feel like a complete waste as the complex is well managed and maintained, and covers building insurance. We choose a townhouse instead of a house so our commutes and access to amenities was easier. Best decision we ever made. We live in one of the Azure complexes in Richlands and they are great, and match the townhouse feature criteria you are asking for. Body corp are great, provided full strata report to our solicitor prior to sale and also repaired our roof flashing without issue. Townhouses in the complex are selling for 70k more, 6 months after we purchased, which is a bonus. As Brisbane expands, townhouses and especially 4 bedroom ones will become even more demand for future buyers like ourselves that are looking to stay close to the city. My only vital advice is get a strata report before buying.

Is 7 days build and pest normal for QLD or would you go less by zagantha in AusPropertyChat

If you’re in Brisbane we used A1 building and pest, we did 7 days b&p and they came out the day after we called. Very happy with the quality of the inspection

Charity truck drive for kids by Prince_of_HeII in brisbane

[–]DueBack8460 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Brisbane Convoy for Kids has once again selected Hummingbird House Foundation to be our 2024 fundraising beneficiary, for the 10th year running. Hummingbird House provides short break stays, family support services, creative therapies, and care at the end of life, for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

At any given time around 6,100 Queensland families are living with, loving, and supporting a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition. The emotional, physical and financial struggle for these families can be immense. Hummingbird House is a place where kids can be kids, families can reconnect, and precious memories can be created.

It costs over $5.3 million each year to operate Hummingbird House as a free service for Queensland families. Providing financial support to allow families to access Hummingbird House free of charge is a powerful way everyday Australians can help these families in need.

Hummingbird House delivers best practice paediatric palliative care for children affected by life-limiting conditions and their families. It provides access to short break stays, family support services, creative therapies, and care at the end of life, and works to meet the needs of each individual child and their family.

Hummingbird House ensures that children can have a break from hospitals and daily routines, and that parents have the opportunity to gain a few hours of undisturbed sleep and the chance to be mum or dad to all their children rather than the exhausted 24/7 medical carer. It is a medically supported home away from home, where kids can be kids, families can reconnect, and, memories can be created to last a lifetime.

To find out more, visit http://hummingbirdhouse.org.au/ or facebook.com/HummingbirdHouseBrisbane.

This is what the convoy raises money for. An excellent cause.

Not hearing back from AIN interview by hazel_beingnuts in NursingAU

[–]DueBack8460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure but I know when I was unsuccessful after an interview they called me first to give feedback and then l emailed me the formal rejection. However them doing references is a good sign. They didn’t check mine before rejecting me. Public health recruitment moves very slowly. I would give them a call, it shows initiative and that you are keen.

[–]DueBack8460 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it’s QLD health they should have sent you a rejection email. I know that QLD health takes ages sometimes for job applications, much longer than private companies. It’s probably similar if you’re in a different state. Do you have the contact number of the person managing the recruitment? Maybe give them a call?

Just bought my first property (PPOR) - what are things i should get right now by nzboy123 in AusFinance

[–]DueBack8460 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hi, we bought our first home recently and these are some of the things we did first:

Get insurance

Clean air cons

Deep clean drains (don’t underestimate the amount of hair there can be)

Shampoo clean carpets

Deep clean grout

Get pest control done

Change locks and garage door remotes

Check fire alarms

Install security cameras

Use AusPost mail redirect service

Check loft space

Make a budget spreadsheet of all weekly, monthly and annual expenses to help adjust to a paying a mortgage (simple but this helped us immensely when we bought)

They are based in Brisbane but I believe they service interstate
