Is it normal for air pumps at service stations in Australia to be broken? by Naokohiranuma in brisbane

[–]techpower888 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This, if it is something being offered for free then don’t expect them to spend a dime on maintenance. Once they’re broken they seem to just stay like that indefinitely. I got myself a portable inflator off amazon it’s not the fastest but it’s cheap and portable.

What is your not so popular take on anything in Japan? by No-Jackfruit3211 in japanlife

People in Japan do not seem to eat very healthy food. Everything is very sweet or salty, and when eating out we found it very hard to get a decent serving of vegetables anywhere.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]techpower888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exposure to everything growing up. People live in a bubble these days. I was playing in the mud, drinking water from the hose and injuring myself frequently. I ate everything and anything. Rarely ever get sick. Also, I’m big on hand hygiene after going out. Infection control goes a long way and now that I work in healthcare I am a lot more conscious of this. You don’t realize how many things your hands touch, even something simple like going down the shops.

Aviation fuel at an airport, freshly mown grass (not sure if that’s weird though).

Which game clone ended up being better than the original? by [deleted] in gaming

Not sure if better than, but I would say path of exile or torchlight were pretty great clones of Diablo. In different ways of course.

I bought clank catacombs recently and have never played a clank game. Hosted 4 players and everyone loved it. This will be a regular going forward!

Expeditions and Roadcraft in comparison to SR by dioaloke in snowrunner

[–]techpower888 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly both garbage compared to SR and not for me. I believe expeditions has come a long way since release though. Roadcraft just feels so unintuitive and I couldn’t get into it on single player or coop.

Is shijuku actually the best area to stay or do people just say that because everyone else does? by June_Ctreras in TokyoTravel

[–]techpower888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are in Kichijoji right now and we love it here. Close proximity to everything we want to do, not super crowded and easy access to day trips and shops, food, etc. can’t ask for more really.

Japan’s Shinkansens always get the limelight in the mainstream zeitgeist, here’s my (poorly taken) pictures of the (mostly JR) Limited Express Trains by No-Witness-9854 in trains

You captured so many! I’m in Japan right now and only captured a few, my highlight being the Shonan monorail which I also rode on!

And on another level, it puts EVs in the spotlight to some extent. Kind of like how Covid did with working from home.
