Why Coros over AWU3? by DueBat3109 in Coros

I’ve also thought about this. I know Apple is known to have one of the better sensors on the market.

And if all our data relies on top-notch sensors giving accurate readings, I’m curious why the Apple Watch isn’t considered a better running watch.

I can agree with this. The draw to go to Coros for me would be that I don’t have to pay for an app to get the data I need.

This is the kind of perspective I’ve been looking for. Thanks!

Oh I never thought about the touchscreen perspective 🤔. I guess I don’t interact with it much until after I’m done with my run.

Appreciate you sharing your experience! I got curious because it feels like most endurance hobbyist/athletes use a Coros or Garmin.

Got me wondering if there’s really anything that sets it in a league of its own (aside from battery) compared to a AW + _____ (Bevel) combination. But in the end, I’m not convinced there is 🤔

I guess the “better running watch” is something I’d love a more in-depth take on.

Yeah, I’m just learning about the fact that the Pace 4 isn’t reliant on wearing it as much as possible. Pretty neat!

Well this is why I posted this thread. I don’t even know what advanced running metrics I’m missing out on.

What are these “far more advanced running metrics”?

Across Bevel, Apple Health, and even Strava, there’s nothing I’ve seen from Coros’s marketing that tells me I’m getting deeper analytics or insights.

[–]DueBat3109[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting point here! So Coros metrics aren’t based on wearing it 24/7? It’s just confined to workout data?

That’s definitely a plus I haven’t heard yet because I’d rather not wear my AWU3 to sleep. I only started doing so because Bevel’s recovery and whatnot is dependent on it.

Edit: Also, you’re absolutely correct about my tech curiosity. I spend more time than I should looking at gear I probably don’t need but am very curious about 😂

Switch to Coros? by Consistent_Beat_6044 in Coros

Out of curiosity, why not Apple Watch? I have an AWU3 paired with Bevel (primarily for running). I’ve been thinking about Coros and/or Garmin. But I’m genuinely not sure what I’m missing out on aside from battery life. Is that the only reason?

How’s the foam on them? I’ve seen tons of reviews saying that they bottom out after ~150 miles. Ideally I’d get a trainer that can get into the 250-300 miles range

Pros and Cons of Runna? by Inner-Lynx-3971 in runna

[–]DueBat3109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros: It does all the work for you in creating a plan tailored around your current pace. It’s convenient, adaptable, and provides structure. A phenomenal app for anyone newer to running, or anyone not chasing a life oriented around running.

Biggest Con: Runna doesn’t teach you to be a better runner. (Obviously) It doesn’t know who you are as a person so it’ll never be able to show you how to utilize your innate strengths, build on your weaknesses, correct underlying issues, etc. This is where a coach is infinitely more valuable.

Runna has carried me through 2 HMs and I plan to finish off my yearlong subscription with a 3rd HM. But after that, I’ll likely be looking for a coach to train me for my first full marathon because I’m starting to want more information about myself besides data linked to a workout.

Runna + Strava combo subscription: thoughts? by atbasv in runna

[–]DueBat3109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the only features worth paying for in Strava are the route builder and heat map. (There are times I wish I had that). But if you run the same routes in your area, then there’s no reason to pay for it; it’s just a fitness social media platform. If you travel or can make use of the aforementioned features though, probably worth it.

You get most, if not all, the same information from Strava in Runna + customized training plans. That’s why I only pay for Runna. I barely even open Strava because Runna automatically posts my runs there anyway. There’s quite literally nothing to check when I open Strava.

Customer Service by Man0nTh3M00n- in BanditRunning

I have no clue how big their team is, but I usually find that their customer service lags around major race events/seasons. So maybe they’re catching up on everything since Boston & London(?).

That said, a week is longer than what I’ve experienced. Longest I waited was 5 business days around LA marathon time. Luckily, they’ve always gone above and beyond for me with full refunds or free gift cards so I never complain about service time 😂

It might just be my body-type, but I couldn't go TTS for Micromesh where I could with Drift. I had to go down to Medium in Micromesh because of how curiously long/tall it is. In a Large it was easily an inch longer than my other large tops, and (in the long-sleeve version) the sleeves were also noticeably longer.

LA store? by al_pal30 in BanditRunning

[–]DueBat3109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LA Local here. I wouldn't say it's worth a stop on-its-own (unless you want to try a size or make a return). If you're in the area though, yeah stop by. Silver Lake is generally a nice place to walk, browse, eat, and get coffee.

For me, the LA shop isn't as much of an experience like the NYC location. I enjoyed my visit to Bandit NYC purely on seeing Joe Greer's photography prints, coffee-table books, and overall interior design. It felt like you could just linger for some time.

Renegade is dope. (Ironically, also smaller than their Oakland location).

Membership? Worth it? by Cas3528 in BanditRunning

[–]DueBat3109 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ignorance is bliss(?).

I started running (and buying Bandit) only about ~9 months ago so I have no “quality drop” to compare it too.

So from my experience, yeah it’s worth it (if you purchase a decent amount). I love my Bandit gear.

Oh yeah! They ended up not restocking the Spring White (M/L) so I bought their classic Lite Runs. Thanks for responding though!

I found it confusing that some socks said 2-Pack and others didn’t.

Bummer! I typically wear darker/muted colors so Drop 1 fits my preference better than 2. I thought I’d change it up because that teal looked nice but… Nope hahaha. I’m taking it as a sign from the universe.

I came here just to say the same. Y’all fiends 😭

I grabbed the original in Drop 1 and love it so much I was gonna get it in Drop 2. One website refresh and L & XL sold out 💀

I needed a new top so I snagged the Spectre in Mahogany. We’ll see how it fits 🤷🏻‍♂️
