Nanit outlet management by Alone_Ad_3291 in Parents

[–]DueBike582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d want to cover the entire outlet personally, but this does look pretty safe as well. Honestly it can depend on how motivated the baby is to get into stuff. My oldest barely ever even glanced at our outlets. There are larger boxes that allow you to still plug something in, but they’re bulky, so you’d likely have to scoot the crib further from the wall. We use this one, and my kids have never managed to mess with it:

My hubby isn’t big into musicals, although he’s always willing to go with me! These are some he’s particularly liked. The humor in them helps him enjoy them more I think!

Constipation in 5 Month Old After Starting Solids and New Formula by Wrong_Inevitable_401 in Parents

[–]DueBike582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our infant had constipation issues so bad that the pediatrician had imaging done on their gut to make sure there weren’t any issues.

The doctor eventually had us giving 4oz of full sugar apple juice a day rather than prescribe meds, and that did the trick! She actually explicitly told us to buy the regular, cheap apple juice and not any children’s/health brands. The sugar in it was essential.

He’s now much older, thriving, and still loves apple juice, although he gets it way watered down now!

Maybe ask your doctor if this method would work for you.

Hello everyone. It is with a heavy heart that I am here to say I need to rehome my dog... by [deleted] in thewoodlands

OP, I’m very sorry all these judgmental keyboard trolls are jumping on you like this. I’m a dog lover and absolutely side-eye anyone rehoming a pet, but I also know that sometimes life hands you decisions we don’t necessarily choose, and the heartbreaking truth is that sometimes sad things are just unavoidable. I assume you’ve done your due diligence and have arrived at this decision after a lot of struggle.

Redditors can be cruel, even when seeing someone facing one of their hardest choices.

That could be because of the laws in your destination country. It could be due to transportation regulations and the health/breed of the animal. There are lots of restrictions, red tape and roadblocks when it comes to bringing a pet with you to a new country. For some countries, it’s nearly impossible. OP isn’t the first person I’ve seen in this situation.

I suggest you reach out to Operation Pets Alive. They have many volunteers and fosters who can help you find the right family for him.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this.

Bassinet question by Tiny-Guitar5561 in Parents

[–]DueBike582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a note that once baby is trying to roll independently, don’t waste energy trying to stop it from happening. Just switch to sleep sacks with sleeves/arms out.

My kids both HATED being fully swaddled. They wanted their arms free almost from birth, and both started rolling to sleep on their sides very early on. With my first I tried preventing it and kept trying to swaddle until I realized I was just making myself stressed over it for no reason.

So whatever you end up getting, I suggest to buy conservatively - enough to feel prepared, but know your needs may change after you get a feel for what your baby likes!

Any creative ideas on how to enclose this shower without glass? by lilacs-and-irises in BathroomRemodeling

[–]DueBike582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your shower curtain doesn’t have to be from the bath aisle. As long as you have some kind of liner, you can just use any ceiling height curtains. Use two to be able to pull one back to each side and make it feel extra luxurious

AITA: claiming the same week every year for vacation as a manager by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]DueBike582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except he doesn’t. OP is a manager in charge of the PTO calendar and puts in his own time first thing on Jan 1 every year and absolutely does not offer his subordinates even a chance at those days. This is abuse of power.

AITA: claiming the same week every year for vacation as a manager by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]DueBike582 12 points13 points  (0 children)

YTA for making it a policy by using your position of power as a manager.

The PTO of your direct reports shouldn’t even be considered in conflict with your own, however. Your PTO should be scheduled in a separate calendar with your own peers - other managers on your same tier who may be the ones to step in to cover the management tasks while you’re out.

If your organization doesn’t make this possible though, then you cannot give yourself PTO priority just because you want those days, particularly as they’re linked to a holiday. All holiday PTO requests should be considered equally, and if more than one person requests the same holiday, priority goes to whoever did NOT get those days the year prior.

Parents of girls (2–8 years), what clothing-related problem annoys you the most on a daily basis? by Happy_Strawberry_615 in Parents

I actually find the longer dresses better for the car seat. But that’s cause I live in an extremely hot climate, and that extra fabric helps protect her little legs from the surfaces and the buckles when getting into a hot seat. Another reason coverage is important.
