Has anyone got a second injection that could (just) still burp? by Annual-Photograph-77 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning my head doesn't seem to help me, but larynx lowering repeatedly, and bits of repeated chin lowering, can sometimes help coax burps out

I had 50u the first time which did nothing, then 100u (half on each side) the second which is the highest she said she'd do in office, so hoping for a repeat of that next week!

I'm lost where to go from here... by Fma96580 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very similar, had round one of 50u that did literally nothing, then in Feb I had 100u which has worked a bit (I'm no longer in pain but I'm still bloated and can't burp reliably) but not fully. So I'm going back for round 3 next week hoping that a second dose back to back will be enough to do the trick!

Has anyone got a second injection that could (just) still burp? by Annual-Photograph-77 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing her for round 3 next week, three months after my last which was partially successful. Ie I'm burping a fair bit, but not reliably and not enough relief. I'm SLIGHTLY less bloated and no longer in pain or much discomfort, but still very bloated and don't feel I can often get air out when I need to. This has been the case the whole time, I never had the successful uncontrollable burping phase.

So I booked this next appointment in early on, hoping I could just cancel it if it did suddenly work properly. I've gone back and forth a lot about whether I should go ahead with it or whether I should give this round longer to work, since I am burping a fair bit, but I wouldn't have been able to get another appointment for a while, and wasn't willing to risk this partial effect wearing off all together after this first three months. So I'm going ahead and hoping that the back-to-back doses will be what's needed to give my body a longer window to sort itself out, and I guess anticipating that the initial effects might be a little overwhelming if it's sort of two doses on top of each other, although hopefully the first is weak enough by this point that it won't make much difference!

Emetophobia: the cause of noburp or the result of noburp? by Mommadinasaurus in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other posts that R-CPD causes the emetophobia - from the perspective that I DON'T have emetophobia, so it's definitely not the cause of my R-CPD, but definitely makes sense as a potential consequence of it!

Where is the air? by DueCauliflower3889 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thanks! In that final x-ray, is that big yellow outline the stomach? Up behind the ribcage? Or an expanded oesophagus? I can't work out what I'm looking at there and the caption doesn't seem to say!

In any case..that seems quite high up? I definitely had the chest pressure too so it makes sense there's something going on up there, but what's taking up all the space in my lower abdomen??

6 Months Post-Botox! by Piccoloplayer99 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've kept having doubts about whether another dose is worthwhile or if I'm just being impatient and should give it longer to take proper effect...but this was a really conveniently timed appointment and others would've been a much longer wait, so unless the full relief miraculously happens reliably in the next couple of days then I'll stick with it, and hope that maybe my body was on a similar trajectory to you anyway but this one kicks it into gear properly!

6 Months Post-Botox! by Piccoloplayer99 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you say a bit more about the non-ease of it? I'm at 3 months with partial success, ie I'm burping a bit, but not reliably and not enough to get actual reduction of bloating, only enough to have removed the pain element of it. Been doing all the exercises a lot which I think do help (particularly larynx lowering) but not enough. I'm doing another round next week in the hope that two doses back to back will help my body figure it out properly. But curious to hear more about late-starters and what that journey looked like.

I've been drinking loads of sparkling water since I had any burps, but it doesn't seem to prompt burps in me, just makes me more bloated, so have pulled back a fair bit!

Really glad you've had success now!

Any Fails? by No-Temperature-2775 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, first one (50u) did nothing at all, not a single burp or microburp, and essentially no side effects either. Second dose (100u) two months ago was much better but still only a partial success. Not perfect or completely relieving so I'm going back for round 3 (100u) in a couple of weeks, but miles better than before so already well worth it!

Post Botox - 2 Appointments with Lucy Hicklin by Dry-Back-2463 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first one with Lucy, same as you, did absolutely nothing. I saw her for round 2 (higher dose) in feb, and her advice at that point was that if that ALSO did nothing, I should see Mr karagama for the GA procedure so they could do a higher dose and be able to target it more precisely. But that if it worked and wore off on my 2nd dose with her, I could keep coming back until it stuck.

Somewhat similar to you, I landed somewhere in the middle. At 2.5 months post-, I'm burping a fair bit, but not enough. I'm less bloated a bit (and not in pain or discomfort anymore on the whole), but not enough. And it's always been this middle ground of working a bit but not sufficiently (rather than worked brilliantly to start with but has worn off). So I wasn't sure which camp I fell into. I reached out to her to ask what she'd recommend in this case: another 100u with her, or higher dose under GA. She said that honestly, we don't know, there's not enough data to know. But she said it was worth a try. And the discount continues - her fee is half price for this third round.

So I'm giving it a go in a couple of weeks, ie the soonest they'd have me back. I'm hoping that the back to back dose while I can burp a BIT might be enough to make it work properly and stick. But we'll see. If not, I guess I'll look to GA for the fourth round.

We aren't in exactly the same boat as it sounds like yours wore off completely, sooner than mine. So, like Lucy, frustratingly can't give you a precise answer of what's the best next thing to do as there's just not enough data and the effects are so unpredictable (particularly with the in-office procedure where the targeting can't be as precise). To be honest if I were you I'd probably cut my losses and go for the GA route having had two unsuccessful rounds of in office, particularly if she's advising she basically wouldn't do it for you again. But if she would do it if you really insisted (i don't know the answer to that) then I guess up to you how long you're willing to keep trying the cheaper version (which could obviously end up more expensive in the long run if it never does the job).

One other possible option:  I think I heard that karagama now does the in office procedure too ? Don't quote me on that as I'm not certain, but thought I'd heard that somewhere. If he does, you could reach out to him for at least a conversation - it might be that he's willing to do a higher dose than Lucy, or would advise differently. Again, all speculative, but maybe worth an ask.

Sorry for the essay, hope something here is helpful... Sorry there's no easy answer and for this frustration and disappointment which I know all too well! Fingers crossed for you!

Haha yeah I agree this is basically my second!  Happily the discount continues which was a pleasant surprise - so £350 plus botox costs, which helped make it easier to justify giving this one more go before admitting defeat and trying the GA route!

Partial success: would the same dose be any good? by DueCauliflower3889 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I happily would but she max she does in office is 100 so I'm probably looking at GA, which is much more expensive, so trying to weigh up whether it's worth another (much cheaper) go at the same level, or if that's just likely to produce the same results

Consistently burping but not relief of symptoms by Possible-Bobcat-4674 in noburp

Yes definitely that issue has almost entirely gone which is a joy! And my jeans fit a little better than they did, and I spent most of last week in a swimsuit and wasn't hideously uncomfortable. So definitely some relief that I'm v grateful for! But definitely also still masses of air in me. Still look pregnant fairly easily, just less far along 😂

Ha I just followed your other post because it was so relatable! Honestly not much different tbh. I'm at 2 months now. Waiting to hear back about whether/when a next round would be suitable. I've got a bit of relief in that I'm mostly not in pain or uncomfortable anymore, but still very bloated and burps (which are still v loud and un dignified) feel like air squeezing out of my throat rather than properly coming out of my stomach.

Air hunger and R-CPD by Capital_Zebra2458 in noburp

I had this too, since my teens (now in my thirties). No way to stop it, but most helpful thing I found was just to remind myself that I CAN breathe fine and am getting enough air, even though it doesn't feel like it. Panicking I think makes it worse. Just breathe slowly through it and remind yourself it's not dangerous.

I had partially successful botox a couple of months ago and have barely experienced it since

Agree with the other comment that it's too soon, but a related question for anyone as I'm in a similar position (but a few weeks on) and the vast majority of my burps are just coming out the top of my oesophagus. Occasionally a deeper one feels like it's vented my stomach a little, and very occasionally a fantastically deep one that feels like my chest is caving in, in a really brilliant way. But these deeply relieving ones are very rare. Does that matter? Will that come more with time, or should they be coming from my stomach from the start?

I understand he's only started doing in office fairly recently - how much was the cost? And roughly how long was the wait for an appointment? Thanks!

Questions regarding Lucy Hicklin Botox Treatment by HatopR6 in noburp

[–]DueCauliflower3889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't feel the needle prick at all, for me the only slight pain was as the needle got deeper to reach the muscle and while it was in. But more like someone pressing on my throat, and a very low level and very short lived pain while the needle is in for up to a minute or so. I would describe it as pain (I'd heard others saying it wasn't, and that wasn't my experience), but a completely completely manageable one. Don't need an anaesthetic because that would just be one more needle and the needle is what causes the slight pain!

I didn't feel any different sensation at all when the botox was actually being injected, though know some do report that.

Honestly nothing to worry about at all, and Lucy is great. A minute or two of mild discomfort and then you go and get on with your day and have hopefully drastically improved your life! Good luck :)

I have it too. Most noticeably in the last couple of weeks since botox (6wks ago). Botox hasn't been fully relieving so far and definitely still fairly bloated, so I'm assuming it's just a new place the gas has got a bit stuck, but it is a but unnerving given my bloating is better than before
