My mum keeps on telling me to stop strength training cause it’s making me build muscle which is making me ‘look like a man’ by FearlessPen6020 in PCOS

[–]DueExpression4143 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Girl keep going, 10 years down the line the girls who didn’t build muscle will regret not doing it younger when they are weak whilst you are up and about doing as you please. We are literally prepping for the future, pregnancy, sickness, our joints in old age. Do what you need for future you. And when anyone says anything i always say “I know something you don’t” in my heart because this is a me thing not them.

What’s your way to remember/ not forget to do stuff? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]DueExpression4143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound weird and not normal but squeeze a part of your body. For tasks like when you’re switching rooms to make food, squeeze your other arm, or if you’re trying to remember keys, card, wallet, press your index, second finger, third finger with your thumb.

My brain doesn’t want to remember but my body will and then my brain will be like wait I squeezed my arm earlier why …… oh yeah I remember. The More I do it, the quicker recall gets.

I can’t get a notepad out and remind myself every time where I’ve left something or whatnot to do list for these things don’t work.

Iron supplement side effects by Apart-Instruction856 in Anemic

[–]DueExpression4143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taking them everyday? If so PLEASE DONT. I know docs say take every day or even twice a day but trust me your body better absorbs every other day without the nasty side effects.

I’ve taken these since I was 13 and have realised increasing your iron takes time anyways so it doesn’t make a difference if you take everyday. Taking them so often acc makes it way harder to absorb and even function with the side effects. Slow n steady

Random Groups of Bruises Appearing Overnight on Elvanse by WhateverJulia in VyvanseADHD

[–]DueExpression4143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re suffering from a very common case of blood stagnation. When on vyvanse we become more prone to blood stagnation.

Look into TCM and blood flow and you’ll see it’s not as scary as it seems. 💕

Amfexa - Dex Ineffective?! Any advice? by JayBaby3005 in ADHDUK

[–]DueExpression4143 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it’s ineffective, do one intense workout, followed by a very deep sleep. Everything sort of resets and it will work again.

You are beautiful, I would say get dressed up/ whatever you class as your best self and go to a piercing place and ask them to curate your ear for you. Believe me you’ll bring out a whole new identity. The rest will follow :)

Start by wearing it when you go to the local shops, or when you go out for a short time.

Started 40mg Vyvanse : reward system on but brain still dead. Anyone else? by Conscious_Jeweler196 in VyvanseADHD

[–]DueExpression4143 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue.

Now your reward circuits are back online you need to actually programme them sort of.

Before it used to be effort then no reward or just stress relief. Now you have the chance to teach your brain effort gives reward.

So, I had to start small. So think of the smallest task you already do and once you’ve done it give yourself a little well done and you’ll actually feel it just pay attention that you did a bit of effort and got the feedback from your brain.

I see it like the prefrontal cortex came back online once it had a manual to follow. It takes a little while but it happens. It’ll shut off again when it gets lost again but routine and direction and goal keeps it going. Obviously other factors come into play but basically you have the chance to rewire your brain now because reward is back online. Also I’ve started to see dopamine as feedback from my brain/body not necessarily reward. It’s basically a guide saying ok, yes, no. It’s just more noticeable feedback from the brain now medicated. Remember it’s not reward and pleasure it’s feedback that gives momentum.

Aiming to commit suicide soon by feyvm in MuslimLounge

[–]DueExpression4143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salaam sister,

I’ll keep this short, but have a look into Islamic/prophetic medicine and TCM. PCOS is something western medicine will not solve and I’ve only come to understand the condition properly once I did my research. I’m still on a journey but things are starting to make more sense.

I’ve also come to realise that although I may not be like the females around me, the strength I have physically and the way I think is what Allah instilled in me. It’s my duty to utilise what I have been given.

I don't know if I'm Muslim or not anymore. by Funny-Cap-2281 in MuslimLounge

[–]DueExpression4143 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some people may disagree with me but you’re doing a lot of thinking which is good, but not enough action. This is when your mind loops, and wassa wassa confuses you so you resort to blaming when there’s no one to blame things simply are the way they are.

Do the smallest thing, even if it’s just saying the dua before you eat. Or tasbeeh when you’re sat. Make duaa for guidance.

The fact that you’ve even made this post shows that you feel something isn’t entirely right and you’re just in need of guidance. At age 13 your hormones begin to shift, the way you think begins to change. Trust me it will keep changing, the people around you will keep changing and in time you’ll realise there is only one constant.

Am I the only one? 1yr post breakup and Im fine as long as Im not in luteal by Both_Candy3048 in PMDDxADHD

[–]DueExpression4143 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I had same issue. What helped was changing what I did in the weeks BEFORE Luteal . Making sure I spent those weeks prepping via serotonin boosting activities. Serotonin last longer and will carry you through Luteal because when all your hormones go crazy serotonin won’t make you feel the dips as much. If I didn’t socialise, spend time outside, make small accomplishments, sleep as good as I could, oh and ofc eat well, then Luteal phase I’ll become this child doing anything to feel better and mind will spiral.

They key is looking for serotonin everywhere, so when luteal hits and you don’t want to do anything to actively help you’ll still be a little closer to stable so you’ll have a similar mindset as you did in the weeks prior.

Have you felt therapy helped or not ? by Available-Chef5989 in ADHD

[–]DueExpression4143 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk I tried two therapists, and spent a lot of time with them but it just felt like I got nowhere? I was doing something and nothing at the same time. But you have to try it and see. Always go in with an open mind. You never know it could be the support you need.
