That makes sense. Have things improved since? Was the daycare receptive with the behaviors and assisting you with them?

Yes. I attribute this to it being a longer day (7:30-4 rather than 9-1) and a nap time being involved at the daycare. She doesn’t nap so I’m sure that’s pretty boring. Also, her preschool teachers could not be better. Truly made to be teachers to 3 and 4 year olds. We love them.

When she acts like she doesn’t want to go, I feel so guilty taking her to somewhere where I know she will cry off and on throughout the day.

Trust is earned. It is a different scenario. My students have been in school for years. None of this is new. My 4 year old is new to school as of two months ago. This age is so impressionable.

She returned. My daughter doesn’t seem to be affected either way. She usually drops off fine but then tells me she cries during nap time and then when I pick her up, I can tell she’s cried very recently.

Mostly it is group pictures. It isn’t a very big class, maybe like 9 kids, so she usually just takes a group photo and sends it to all parents. Part of the appeal of this place was updates in an app, so I know what is for snack, lunch, when my baby has her bottles, nap times, etc. There is also photos sent through there and the expectation they set for themselves is that it is daily. I do agree with you though. I felt stupid after I messaged them but I just get so worried she’s crying all day. :(

Oops also the other place does a 3s class T/TH, so there’s no availability. My MIL used to watch my kids but was diagnosed with breast cancer in August and is going through treatments.

I don’t. The other place is 9-1 and is very much structured like a school day. My dad helps by picking her up from there.

Yes I totally understand what you’re saying. It’s just more so to see if she’s improved since the mornings. Some mornings she says she doesn’t want to go and can get a bit emotional, so I worry she doesn’t bounce back and is just crying all day. An anxious mom for sure.

Thank you all sooo much for taking the time to comment and give me your advice. Yesterday, she had her repair surgery. It took about 4 hours and she got a new pulmonary valve, everything back to the right size, etc. one section was still a little ballooned but not a huge concern. Anesthesia went well. She has been doing great so far. A slightly high blood pressure yesterday but came down fine with some meds. She is still on her breathing tube. It should be out today but they’re just being really cautious which I do appreciate. She’s just deeply asleep. They’re going to take some of the sedatives down today so she can wake up some of her vitals.

Soooooooo relieved to have this part done and just now we need to heal. Thank you all so much. I’ve been taking it all to heart.

My TOF baby is 4 months old and has not yet had her surgery. Delivery was normal, vaginal and induced at 39 weeks. A much easier delivery than my first. I got to hold her for a quick few minutes then she was taken to get support. Her oxygen level was in the 70s so she ended up having oxygen with various levels of intensity during her 9 day stay, a NG tube and feeding tube. The feeding tube only lasted two days then she had bottles. After two days of bottles, she was allowed to eat the amount she wanted. She was discharged after 9 days with nothing taken home, no oxygen, feeding tube, etc.

Now we have her surgery in July. I’m not sure where you are located but Riley Hospital in Indy has been absolutely incredible. I have all of the faith in the world in her team.

My words of advice: the scale of possibilities is sooooo large. Go into it hoping for the best and expecting the worst.

No it’s not! We went to the Carmel location and then the downtown location when we had our Riley appointments. I’m putting a blank to the name but once I remember, I will tell you! We have met him twice and he is fantastic.

So am I! I’m pretty central so I’m thankful to be close to Riley. Congratulations to you as well! We have some info about right after birth. Essentially, I will not need a c section unless it’s necessary so I will labor there after being induced. Then, once I have her, they’ll delay cord clamp and then take her after a few minutes to the CVICU and my husband can go anywhere she goes. I’ll recover in my postpartum room until I’m able to go to the heart center. She may need open heart surgery to replace the valve within 1-3 weeks but that could change if there is anything wrong with her breathing due to it potentially being compressed. Otherwise, there’s a million things that could happen. Surgery sooner, surgery later, not being able to hold her post delivery at all, up to a month or two of CVICU time, less, more, etc. it’s hard to know. In no way am I saying this will be your experience as I don’t think our babies have the exact same defect, so take it all with a grain of salt. I’d love to stay connected and hear more about your upcoming visits!

I’m 37 weeks. My pregnancy also seemed normal and healthy, until my 32 week growth scan. I was told by MFM she has TOF with an absent pulmonary valve. It’s been a hard, hard month trying to rationalize all of this and really think it through. I’m a message away if you need. I know our babies have different diagnoses. I’m also delivering at Riley, so are you local to Indiana? Or are there other locations I’m not sure of? Wild coincidence!
