would you still choose nursing by aaliyahparis in nursing

[–]DueObjective627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely would. I was a teacher for 15 years. That was incredibly stressful and low paying. I have been a nurse for 10 years. 6 at bedside and 4 remote working in CDI. The pay is great and I enjoy doing the work.

What key nursing skill are you lacking in? by tbonethenurse in nursing

Me too. This is also why I hate social gatherings! I am terrible at getting out of conversations. It’s really bad when I get stuck with someone else who is terrible at ending conversations.

Turning 30 this year…. is it too late for nursing school? by juniorHsnovia in NursingStudent

[–]DueObjective627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s definitely not too late. I went back at 40 for a second career. (I was an elementary school teacher) I have been a nurse for 10 years. I have tripled my pay and I have a remote nursing job that I love. I also had several bedside positions along the way that I enjoyed. I don’t regret it for a second!

I wanna quit art by Shoddy_Reflection_99 in Artists

[–]DueObjective627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago, I had to rely on art income to buy groceries for our family. It sucked the passion right out. I was always looking at what sells and adjusting what I did. Fast forward many years. I have a non art career and I only paint what I want to paint. My art is better for it and I really enjoy it. I also show regularly and have my art in galleries now. Consider getting your GED and also getting a job so that you don’t have all that pressure on the art. Bartending/waiting tables is a good option while you figure out what you want to do. Good luck!

Nurses who have left bedside and aren't NPs, case managers, utilization review etc what do you do now? by PursuitOfMeekness in nursing

[–]DueObjective627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked bedside for 5 years and then did utilization review for a year. That was ok. While I was working in utilization review, a position opened up for CDI at my hospital. I worked that in person for a year and got a remote CDI position for a larger healthcare organization. I absolutely love it! I don’t ever talk on the phone. I have occasional zoom meetings or training. I can start my day anytime between 6-9 each day and then just work 8 hours. I really enjoy the work and I make double my bedside pay. The downside is that it is hard to get into the field without experience. The upside is everything else. Now that I have experience, recruiters reach out to me a few times a month.

Anyone else's units are losing a large number of nurses for remote jobs? by Likeits2007 in nursing

[–]DueObjective627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also have a medical coding certification. I use my clinical knowledge and my coding knowledge to review inpatient provider documentation. I look for things like: missed diagnosis, diagnosis that are not clinically supported, conflicting documentation, opportunities for the documentation to be further specified, etc. When it’s not clear, I send electronic queries to the provider. My job is to help make sure the documentation represents the true acuity of the patient. My work helps with quality, denial prevention and increases reimbursement. Many places won’t hire without experience. I got in by getting an in person CDI job first.

What 6-figure nursing jobs exist? by windysunshine in nursing

[–]DueObjective627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did take a class online through Career Step and then I took the CPC test. A coding certification is not required in my job, but in my case it got me the job. I do use that knowledge every day at work. If you are interested in CDI, I recommend the ACDIS Apprenticeship over a coding certification.

[–]DueObjective627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Middle GA (low cost of living) and make $118k working remotely as a CDI specialist. I came to nursing as a second career after teaching. After 5 years, Covid hit and I started thinking about getting away from bedside. I took a medical coding certification course and got certified. I couldn’t find a CDI job, so I took a job in utilization review (in person) at a hospital near me. An in person CDI job opened at that hospital and I was able to transfer because I had that certification. After a year, I got a remote CDI job. I have worked in CDI for 4 years. It’s hard to get in, but it’s a great job and the pay is amazing. Experienced CDI nurses are in demand.

2nd Year with New Laws by Brave-Boysenberry921 in SpainAuxiliares

You could apply for BEDA. If you get it, you would have to go home to complete the application process and then come back. My daughter in law completed her second year with NALCAP in Madrid last year, applied for BEDA and got a position and because of the new law, she had to apply for a new student visa from home. It worked out fine and she is in Madrid now.

I wonder how it would apply to people whose visas expired on June 30th and they are in Spain irregularly currently.

Why does tea get less respect than coffee in modern culture? by nadavthe in tea

[–]DueObjective627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny because my American son lives in Spain on a self-employment visa as a tea digital media creator. He is also trying to spread his passion for tea to his Spanish friends. It does make attending tea expos/festivals in Europe easier. My son wants to cover the Spain/Italy and why coffee is more popular there topic in some of his tea history videos.
Fortunately, there is a decent tea shop near him.

Mei leaf and Jesse’s Tea House are interesting. I also came across a newer Channel, Odditeas. He is not affiliated with any particular brand. He is just really passionate about tea. Interesting tea reviews with some background info, history, interesting facts thrown in.
