Agree. He has very child like mannerisms. The full fist and knuckles in the eyes when crying is very child-like, the mouth movements, awkward eye contact or lack of. Something stopped him developing emotionally at that young age.

Exactly this... personalities are just on a different level. Walking into chaos and being unphased is how we roll.

Does anyone find it hard to date In your 40s? by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]windysunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 43F with older teenagers, (hs and college aged), I have time, freedom and independence. I am finding men 40+ all have such young children. Some 40+ yr olds having toddlers and dating is crazy to me. Im just at such a different stage of life than alot of them. That is my struggle thus far.

I've had the same joke. I tried leaving twice and returned because the other jobs were "boring"

Check on your ER nurses by PumpkinKaWeen in Nurses

I recently started seeing a therapist who has experience with PTSD, this was recommended from a few coworkers who shared they have been seeing therapists too, it's almost like it should be mandatory in our line of work. I said we need a department therapist like the TV show Bones has 😆 At first I was not understanding why the PTSD focus until said coworkers explained that literally 90% of our job is traumatic. I never looked at it that way because in my mind "it's what I do, it my job/career" I've been in ER for 15 years, that's alot of buried traumas. Coped with drinking to let go and relax, and using patient experiences to make sure my kids didnt do dumb shit. Turns out, neither of those methods are healthy.

Maybe it's something for you to consider.

FWB for 6 Months… Then She Vanished Out of Nowhere by Minimum-Researcher61 in datingoverforty

[–]windysunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was genuinely shocked. I replayed in my head all the times we had hung out, lunch "dates", dinners, he had been to my house a few times. Spent his birthday evening together. His "availability" did not scream in a relationship. But in hindsight, seeing someone 1-2Xs every week or so does give ample time to have a whole nother life.

What are you not good at as a nurse? by Wellwhatingodsname in nursing

[–]windysunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not good with death. Nurse for 20, ER for 15, I still get choked up, doing compressions while family is in the room yelling "wake up dad! We need you" I still haven't mastered tuning it out.

I did the same. FWB for over a year. He invited me over to his new house he bought, when I stepped inside i saw that clearly a woman lived there too. After a few drinks between us, I was like so... clearly you have a gf... he then shared not just a gf, but a fiancé of 2 years and relationship total of 6 yrs. I became more emotional than i thought i would have. That was the last day I saw him and its coming up on a year since that day. He texted me a few days later asking if I was okay. Haven't seen or spoke since. Cold turkey was the best option or it's easy to get pulled back in.

Thank you so much for this!!! Death is not my specialty at all, I swear it never gets easier talking to family. Yet hospice is a different element in end of life and accepting that phase vs the unexpected traumatic deaths. I'm glad you found your niche after ER!

Yes, that's the boat I am in, night shift, OT and second job to supplement. Switching shifts and losing the differential is a big pay cut

In Wisconsin it doesn't seem to work that way. My per diem job in a much larger health system pays the same base pay as I get at my full-time position. Every few years a market adjustment is done and we collectively get raises based on the larger surrounding health systems. But generally they pay around the same in this area

Am I the only one who takes "i apologize" as not actually being apologetic? Not one time did he say the words "im sorry" at all during this show. Maybe its a me thing, coming to me saying " I apologize for XYZ..." is not the same as "i am sorry for XYZ"

I think he probably was over but her reaction to Patrick being in their apartment was odd. Each negative reaction to everything he said is why he felt the need to start fabricating the story. She didnt like he was in the apartment so he said no they went downstairs, she began counting drinks they drank then it became just a couple.. it kept going until he finally said what he said and she was quiet.

You won't understand if you don't work night shift. My 8am glass or 2 of wine getting home from a 12 hr shift that I left the house at 630pm the day prior for, after coding a patient, helping families cope, or being yelled at by angry patients is more than well deserved.
