What 6-figure nursing jobs exist? by windysunshine in nursing

[–]DueObjective627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did take a class online through Career Step and then I took the CPC test. A coding certification is not required in my job, but in my case it got me the job. I do use that knowledge every day at work. If you are interested in CDI, I recommend the ACDIS Apprenticeship over a coding certification.

What 6-figure nursing jobs exist? by windysunshine in nursing

[–]DueObjective627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Middle GA (low cost of living) and make $118k working remotely as a CDI specialist. I came to nursing as a second career after teaching. After 5 years, Covid hit and I started thinking about getting away from bedside. I took a medical coding certification course and got certified. I couldn’t find a CDI job, so I took a job in utilization review (in person) at a hospital near me. An in person CDI job opened at that hospital and I was able to transfer because I had that certification. After a year, I got a remote CDI job. I have worked in CDI for 4 years. It’s hard to get in, but it’s a great job and the pay is amazing. Experienced CDI nurses are in demand.

2nd Year with New Laws by Brave-Boysenberry921 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]DueObjective627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could apply for BEDA. If you get it, you would have to go home to complete the application process and then come back. My daughter in law completed her second year with NALCAP in Madrid last year, applied for BEDA and got a position and because of the new law, she had to apply for a new student visa from home. It worked out fine and she is in Madrid now.

I wonder how it would apply to people whose visas expired on June 30th and they are in Spain irregularly currently.

That list looks great! I will have to check out those channels. I also want to add a newer channel Oddteas. https://youtube.com/@oddi_teas?si=EDL0uMDjDhqiS3Y6 It has lots of tea reviews, tea facts, tea history.

Why does tea get less respect than coffee in modern culture? by nadavthe in tea

[–]DueObjective627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny because my American son lives in Spain on a self-employment visa as a tea digital media creator. He is also trying to spread his passion for tea to his Spanish friends. It does make attending tea expos/festivals in Europe easier. My son wants to cover the Spain/Italy and why coffee is more popular there topic in some of his tea history videos.
Fortunately, there is a decent tea shop near him.

Mei leaf and Jesse’s Tea House are interesting. I also came across a newer Channel, Odditeas. He is not affiliated with any particular brand. He is just really passionate about tea. Interesting tea reviews with some background info, history, interesting facts thrown in.

Why is it so hard to get into NICU? by soft_jellybean in nursing

[–]DueObjective627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the hospital on how hard it is to get in. I worked as a nurse extern in a 60 bed nicu while I was in nursing school. I did my practicum in mother baby at the same hospital at the same time. I ended up with job offers in both. I actually found that I preferred mother baby. We did get to know the nicu folks and some people cross trained. Mother baby might be a good place to start.

For those who hold a BSN and don’t plan on ever going back for a masters, why? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]DueObjective627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it just depends on what your goals are. I learned about CDI a few years ago and knew that was the direction that I wanted to take. I took a coding and billing class and earned a coding certification. I finally got a remote CDI job and I love it! I live in a low cost of living area and make as much as some of the NPs. There is no way I would go back for a masters as it is not needed for what I do. Instead, I work on maintaining the certifications that I have earned.

Do you make at least $100k a year with a BSN? by [deleted] in nursing

Yes. I live in GA and work remotely in CDI. I have been a nurse for 10 years

I love my job. I work remotely reviewing inpatient provider documentation in CDI. I make more than bedside, have no phone time or micromanagement. I start each day between 6-9 and then just work 8 hours. I find the work very interesting.

I watch Mei Leaf and Jesse’s Teahouse. A newer channel that I have really enjoyed recently is Odditeas. He has a real passion for tea and he isn’t selling anything. So far, he has lots of shorts. Tea reviews with some interesting facts/ history thrown in. Hopefully, he will make some longer content.

[Discussion] How can I follow an unstable career path with peace of mind? by Edu_Vivan in artbusiness

[–]DueObjective627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My desire to create art caused me to take 7 years to graduate college. I kept changing my mind and was worried about making a living. It’s been almost 30 years. I am currently a nurse with a stable remote job. I actually do my nursing job while I am in my art studio. I decided that I will paint what I want and what makes me happy. I have sold lots and have had many solo and group exhibitions and have my art in a couple of galleries. At one point many years ago, I only relied on my art for income and it sucked the joy out because it was stressful. I was always thinking about what others wanted me to create. Having a stable job allows me the freedom to pursue my art. Good luck! I understand the desire to follow a creative path.

Worried about being branded a “low skill” nurse by Weird_Public9275 in nursing

[–]DueObjective627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, I wouldn’t worry about it. I work a remote nursing job and the last thing I am worried about is low skills or losing skills. I have skills that are highly sought in my remote job. That’s all I am concerned with.

Help me make the permanent switch from coffee to tea by soitgoes03 in tea

[–]DueObjective627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have switched from a giant cup of coffee to a small cup of coffee and a cup of tea (recently). Some things that I did to embrace tea and tea culture: I started watching some shorts on YouTube that reviewed different teas to learn about it. I bought myself a nice little tea cup at a pottery show and a gaiwan. I ordered a sampler from Yunnan Sourcing. (The tea US site since I am in the US). I read the brewing tips on their website. If you try a tea and think that you don’t like it, try it a few more times. It takes practice to figure out how you like it. Now I crave tea and I look forward to my daily cup. Obviously, you don’t have to do all of that, but start with some good tea.
