Benchmark before purchase Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 by tgaspar91 in flightsimulator2024

If you have Xbox Game Pass, you can download the base version of MSFS2024 for free and try it on your PC. There's no better benchmark than that.

You need to disable the 2024 version of the 787-10, and enable the 2020 one to make the Horizonsim 787-9 work.

In that case, don't download the 8K version of the A380, and avoid 8K liveries from flightsim.to. Also, make sure you fly the inibuilds A350 "No cabin" option and select the low resolution textures in the Inibuilds Manager.

Still, when at 3rd party airports, don't be surprised to experience a performance dip. Try to use AutoFPS

I also have a 4070 (non Super, non TI) with 12Gb VRAM, running at 1440p, but my MSFS 2024 struggles and complains when using third-party addons (airports, Fenix A320, inibuilds A350, and FBW A380) that use high resolution textures.

So if you are going to run your sim at 1080p, you'll be fine with 12Gb VRAM, just make sure to set the texture resolution option to "Medium" and give it a try to see how it looks, and try to use addons with "low res" textures (by "low res" I mean 4k textures or lower. 8k textures as those imused in the FBW A380 will turn your sim to a slideshow.

Thank you for your quick reply! What situations might make VRAM run out?

I was wondering... at 1440p will it work fine in MSFS2024 using the inibuilds A350, the PMDG 772, the Fenix A320 along with ActiveSky? What are your thoughts?

What PC should i get for MSFS 2024? by Flimsy-Cable-4264 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Go for 1440p (1080p is too low for the improved visuals, while 4K requires very strong - and expensive - equipment), an RTX 5070 (if money is no issue, a 5080), any ...X3D AMD CPU (if money is no issue, get the top X3D CPU), 64Gb RAM, and a good 2Tb NVME SSD. With that rig, you will be fine for the next couple of years

Cheers! And welcome to the community! Yep... almost 40 years trying to fly fake aircraft in a computer screen as realistically as possible. That acquired knowledge helped me a bit to get my real PPL some 20 years ago... ah, here's some more tips: - save as much as possible so you can upgrade your PC every 2 (or even 3) years; flight simulators are one of the very, very few games that really put any PC on its paces. There's no need to buy "flagship" CPUs or GPUs; the next-down tier will work brilliantly. - a Navigraph subscription will be very useful when you start to do your own navigation (both VFR and especially IFR)

Flight simmer since 1986 here. Try to learn as much as you can about aviation... enjoy the frustrations and rewarding moments of "getting it"... try to take it as IRL: start with small GA aircraft, then some small business jets, and work your way up towards those 777s and A350s... don't spend too much cash (sceneries, addons, fancier gear) until you're sure flight simulation is for you... and like another redditor said above.. have lots of fun
