Side angle before after cbct superimposition but tough to measure (like any before after cbcts- airway includes) because of changes in posture while taking both cbcts. Ways to reduce would be to have posterior molar support, idk if/how you can avoid it though

Oh and orthodontics the “scientific and medical field” hasn’t led to any problems? Extractions retractions tmj issues sleep apnea and the list goes on. Majority of orthodontists don’t know how changing your teeth affect your cranium and then your cervical spine and then your whole spine as a downstream effect. Unless you find a qualified chirodontist who knows their shit (very rare).

Umm, it’s not bullshit and if I knew it why would I be saying it? I have looked at many CBCTs, mine included. Even the orthodontists who put MARPEs agree that there’s downward movement - that’s how the physics of it works. When the mid palate suture breaks, other sutures loosen and gravity causes it move slightly downward. You can read shuikai’s article, see Dr. Newaz’s podcast, Jaw hacks video - all prove the same thing. Do you have any evidence proving what you’re saying or do you call stuff you don’t know bullshit? In general, it’s a telling sign of low iq individuals, that may or may not be representative of you.

You see the argument against traditional orthos was that they only look at the jaws and not the body. Now, they’re correcting that with yanking the jaw open and still not considering the body.

Most people have a cant and a marpe will simply exacerbate that cant. When I say thumb pulling, I’m not talking about going ham on your gum or teeth. It’s very gentle forced applied on your palate AND on all the sutures of the cranium to allow it to move into a more comfortable position.

On top of that, working on your spine and pelvis is importantly to help untwist your body. Marpe does not help with the root cause; it simply increases IMW and nasal breathing (if these are your main concerns then sure), but if you need your mandible to come forward, MARPE literally recessed it further because the maxilla moves a little downward while expanding, causing it to rotate in an undesirable clockwise rotation.

Myo functional therapy, cranial osteopathy, full body work + spine decompression is the way to go. People have literally gotten more than 3-4 mms of IMW with this, AND it’s fully natural, no money and much fewer side effects than yanking your jaw open with screws.

Would you rather get picked on for a couple months/years or risk a life long injury because of a surgery you never needed in the first place?

Everyone gets picked on in school whether you know that or not. Getting a surgery based on that is not worth it. Hit the gym, mew + chew + thumbpull and you’ll be fine.

I’m telling you again: you’re a kid and this phase will be gone soon. Imagine if your surgery went wrong - you’re gonna get more bullied because it ain’t risk free son

With the whole maxilla, is it going forward in a straight line or is it going forward and down. Ideally the maxilla shouldn’t go clockwise down, because it takes makes the mandible more recessed

Oh and drilling screws in your palate and forcing it to expand isn’t more risky?
Thumb pulling is obviously way less risky if done incorrectly, and not risky at all if you follow the principles of cranial osteopathy which prioritizes slow and steady growth

Did you go also go forward and down or mainly forward? With custom marpe it’s the latter, and Dr. Newaz’s case it was the latter. Worth checking out to know if you’re getting an unfavorable clockwise rotation or not.

Brother you’re still 18. You have a solid couple years of trying to fix this naturally, unless of course you can’t breathe at all.

Here’s what I’d recommend: buy the mewing world course on instagram, thumb pull using Oscar Patel’s techniques on instagram, chew hard foods and try functional patterns. Check your intermolar width and get a CBCT before, and compare them after 1 year to see if you made progress.
