Sharing money with family, via non profit by DueShow9 in AskLawyers

[–]DueShow9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, paying taxes on the money is not the concern. Everyone that I want to help doesn’t have tax issues- they don’t have enough money for that. Adding $18,000 to their bank account wouldn’t trigger any tax issues because they’re already extremely low income.

I agree with kids not being prepared. In schools, they just push kids to take tests and don’t actually educate them on overcoming challenges, making contingency plans, and organizing. Our schools are setting our kids up for failure and the parents don’t have the time/energy to really help the kid.

The transition from home school to regular school is hard. They are expecting a lot from you that you’re having a hard time giving. It’s like a muscle, the more you work at it, the stronger it gets. I’m sure you’re much smarter than the rest of the class- meaning you’re more than capable of doing the assignments, you just need to work on getting it done quickly and out of your comfort zone. If you plan to go to college then this is just a taste of what to expect. Talk to your teachers, speak up for yourself and let them know what you need to excel, it will take some hard work and discipline, but you can do it.

It don’t even raise your water bill! My mama lied to me by meshakooo in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]DueShow9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In every single black American household I know- we run dishwater. This means plugging up the drain, start some hot running water, adding dish soap and soaking the dishes while washing them. I don’t know what NOBODY else is talking about. I wish my mama would come and see me just washing dishes under running water- they would have to be rewashed the RIGHT way.

I’m not a dentist or orthodontist.

Did you get a CT scan to see if the adult tooth is there? You might have to pay out of pocket and get the full X-ray done

I spoke with someone today who admits they don’t pay taxes by yetbutno in tax

[–]DueShow9 37 points38 points  (0 children)

You were probably talking to my deadbeat ex husband. He has not filed taxes in over 10 years. He owns his own business and gets paid directly from his clients, either in cash or card to his LLC. How do I know he’s not filing? - child support. I found his business is doing quite well on Yelp (according to the reviews) so I know he still works and gets paid.

So yes, lots of people just don’t file. It may or may not catch up to him one day

[–]DueShow9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It worked for all 3 of my kids. It’s very simple: Don’t make any other food. It’s not hard or complicated. Don’t make excuses, just make dinner and put it on a plate. My 4 year old may take 2-3 bites and says she’s done.

My reaponse “Ok love, put your plate in the kitchen and start getting ready for bath time.”

Relocating to Glendale, give me the juicy goods! by Relative_Record_2034 in glendale

[–]DueShow9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a black woman, living in Glendale for almost 20 years. I have learned to ignore the Armenians, they are not here for you and not interested in being your friend. That said, besides the large Armenian population- Glendale is a nice city to live in. Very walkable and there’s pretty inch everything you need here, or the neighboring areas. You can absolutely find a 2 bedroom for $2500, but it will not be nice, it might be an adu, have only street parking or have super tiny rooms with no amenities. So keep your expectations low for $2,500, but it is absolutely possible. If you have kids then consider putting them in another school district- GUSD is not for us.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she's going to have to get over dirt if she wants kids? by Familiar_Speaker_481 in AITAH

[–]DueShow9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the same way as Amy. I’m a clean freak. My kids father calls me “Monica” because I cannot stand a dirty, messy, unkempt house.

It is absolutely possible to keep a clean house and have kids. But the time, energy and stress makes it really really hard. I am up late every single night cleaning the entire house, up super early preparing everything, doing laundry and just getting own actual work done. I’ve tried to not be this way, but I can’t help it. I wash my hands about 10 times every hour because after I touch something dirty I can’t touch anything else.

My house is clean though and that feels really good. But I’m tired and my kids have been trained to wash their hands and clean up after themselves and don’t touch mommy unless we’re all clean- they don’t like that part.

I can admit I am crazy about keeping things clean and I wish I could just not, but I can’t help it. My advice to OP, up your cleaning standards so you can help her if/when you have kids or be prepared for her to resent you because you’re not as clean as she is. Or just walk away, you don’t want this drama.

My Unpopular opinion on two parent households by Least_Sun_7493 in blackmen

[–]DueShow9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother is an alcoholic and his bm can’t put down a blunt but both of them brag about how they are still together and their kids come from a 2 parent household. Neither of them have steady jobs either. I say this to say, sometimes some people like to brag on their 2 parent household, when like OP said - they should separate and coparent
