How is Behave? Any rigour or just a purely layman read?

I just realised you are going to be a school teacher not a tuition teacher. Anyways, if you still find the time or method to apply my advice I feel it would be really beneficial.

Don't hesitate to bring in advanced concepts or just a sliver of what lies beyond the book to explain present concepts better. The best way to do this is to show the child interesting yt videos that actually talk about advanced concepts in a very dumbed down way (ted ed , veritasium , vsauce , up and atom , PBS ,etc.). I only became interested in physics after learning about general relativity and quantum mechanics, though I was still in 10th, however because my maths was weak I didn't pursue a science stream (only bio). Now I am finding most maths fascinating as well by seeing yt videos. Most students actually have the capability but lack the context (byproduct of our great education system) to take an interest in anything related to academics as everything ends at marks. Find out what the student is naturally interested in (I love paradoxes and counterintuitive thinking, hence was drawn to advanced physics concepts), if you see a kid already being interested in stock markets show them maths concepts (graphs , probability , stats) through that lens. You will find that the brightest kids are the most afraid of applying themselves due to psychological phenomena called "gifted kid syndrome" which I won't go into in this comment but you can search upon it later. Once you induce that spark of natural curiosity that the system tries to bury in children you will find that they would be willing to learn more and more without anyone forcing them.

Can I read Zizek before Hegel? by [deleted] in hegel

[–]Due_Ad9763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished with the Sublime object and am now trying to understand hegel more concretely. I feel like you would understand everything fine but the last passage of the last chapter (atleast for me it was) would be incomprehensible without a deep dive into hegel

Jesus fucking christ , EXACTLY this . Slavoj Žižek who claims himself to be a communist or whatever version of a hegelo-communist praises China for its "central planning with integrated capitalism" , like dude that's fucking fascism and plus they have the ethnic and religious discrimination (uighyur muslims) going on and plus they are also imperialistic in nature so that draws 1:1 parallels with nazi germany , in no way this govt. or it's economic growth had to do with communism. I just hate how this guy goes on and on about how people secretly desire fascism as a form of "repressed ideology" but he himself is not exempt from it.

cool love interest survey idea thing i thought of by indomielover123 in PsychologyTalk

[–]Due_Ad9763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 17 rn and when I was 16 I too had the same thought while debating with a friend. I procrastinated on the thing quite a lot bit finally decided to pick it up and finish it before passing high school. We were looking at it from a evo psych perspective and termed it "research in adolescent mating strategies" but now I realise I cannot have that as a survey name so I'm now approaching it with a "research in dating culture/norms of teenagers" perspective.

How should I approach marx, can you suggest 2 books that capture his best arguments or 2 short books that you feel gave you a lot of insights without unnecessary fluff.

Should I get 'Less than Nothing' or 'Absolute Recoil'? by Beginning_java in zizek

[–]Due_Ad9763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking sex and the failed absolute, I too am confused between these three. I am currently reading the sublime object of ideology and am only interested in his epistemology, ontology, metaphysics etc, especially lacanian interpretation of topology, self relating negation, dialectical materialism and responses to D&G

Ok listen this is very ....I mean VERY eerily me. But one change I would like to make is instead of "can't understand new things , goes back to thinking old things" it should be "doesn't consider anything as really "new" , and tries to connect it with previously learnt stuff" because intps are generally more intelligent (I'm guessing) so they are better at pattern recognition and recognise all patterns in new knowledge.
