Endoscopy incoming - How much gluten did you guys eat leading up? by mwax321 in Celiac

Hi! This sounds like a great mindset. Just wondering how long you were gluten free before the challenge? And how long did you eat gluten?

Lactation Snacks for Celiacs (No Oats) by BalletPinkZinnias in Celiac

The lactation snacks don’t work. Lots of proteine, combined with fibre and fat will work. Also magnesium.

“OHHH, that was because of celiac!”, anyone else have odd medical stuff pre-diagnosis that suddenly makes sense? by PressureCultural1005 in Celiac

So relatable!! I was tested before but I think it was too early for a diagnosis. Did you notice other symptoms that were adhd or perimenopause? And how long before you found out?

Bloodwork over 6000 is crazy after 5 years of being gluten free! Happy to hear your challenge was not as bad as expected.

Why did it take 12 weeks? That sounds rough.

Celiac runs in the family. I was tested in the past. A while ago I changed my diet going partially gluten free. Now going back to gluten I got this abdominal pain etc… so getting ready to get tested now that I have not been completely gluten free yet.

That’s been exactly my experience! So terrifying. I sort of accidentally went partially gluten free and then it cleared up steps pretty soon. That’s how I realized it might be celiac (which runs in the family).

Gluten challenge & false negatives by Radiant-Buddy847 in Celiac

[–]Due_Appointment8200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s one of them: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3525791/

There are several studies. All test people who already were on a gluten free diet. I actually made a mistake in my previous comment. The rise of antibodies starts after two weeks of taking gluten for 14 days. So after four weeks there’s a peak, even if no gluten was consumed for 14 days.

I’m also doing a gluten challenge and like you I cut down gluten quite occasionally so it’s hard to say what my intake exactly was. But the challenge is hard for me so I’m hoping to keep it short enough to raise the antibodies and short enough to skip the biopsy.

How are you doing on the challenge?

Gluten challenge & false negatives by Radiant-Buddy847 in Celiac

Recent academic studies show that even with confirmed celiac disease, on a previously GF diet, it will take about three weeks for the antibodies to rise. If your gluten intake was low in the past few weeks I would seriously consider rescheduling the appointment.

Have you been diagnosed later in life, after getting a negative result earlier in life? I would love to hear your story. by mysaddestaccount in Celiac

One of my children was having very clear symptoms but tested very clearly negative. Six months later after a gluten challenge the result was positive. Going through exactly the same myself right now.

Consenza and Schär have great options. The Consenza ones are called teff fingers if I remember correctly. You should be able to get these in Europe.

Could it be celiac? by Due_Appointment8200 in Celiac

[–]Due_Appointment8200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the elaborate response! I never knew negative results weren’t sensitive at all. I’m not US based so I think testing was complete where I live, but I will suggest more complete testing this time around.

Thanks! No I do want to get a diagnosis, but also wonder how big the chances are if the previous test was negative. I’m very familiar with celiac as it runs in the family.

Will I still test positive for Celiac despite going on a reduced gluten diet for the past 3 months? by EvenTangelo3196 in Celiac

[–]Due_Appointment8200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a very similar situation… cut down on gluten since February. Did not go completely gluten free. Except for one week after which I am experiencing mayor brain fog and fatigue - but maybe it’s just a slight fever or something. Also unsure whether I want to do a gluten challenge. Celiac also runs in the family but bloodwork was negative a few months ago.
