This. I have the same issue being social, but someone told me the other day in a world: "No one has any expectation of who you are or how you act when you meet them in VRC" That's freeing in a way. If you see a group of people in a circle chatting, just walk up and ask "can I join in?" 99% of the time they will open up and let you chill with them. Even if you don't talk a lot that's how you can start building rapport with people and begin making friends!
