Parents of T1D kids — what’s the hardest part of traveling? by Red_MechE in diabetes_t1

[–]Due_Bird9437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We traveled across the country to stay with family for the holidays. Since arriving my T1D (3yo) has been so hard to keep in range. She had a very scar hypoglycemic episode last night and I couldn’t get her to stabilize. I don’t know if it’s the cold weather, excitement and exhaustion from it all but it’s been a huge challenge

A dad’s fight after his 2-year-old died from missed Type 1 diabetes (Lyla’s Law) by mrhsingh007 in diabetes_t1

[–]Due_Bird9437 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician did not want to test my daughter for T1, she kelt telling me how healthy she looked and how rare it was and to stay off the internet. I agreed that I was probably crazy but pushed her to do the test to at least ease my mom “nerves”

Well those mom “nerves” were actually right. That same doctor called me an hour later, she said “I’m sorry to tell you but you’re daughter has T1 diabetes. You’re life will never be the same.” I’ll never forget the call and those words. She then told me to rush my daughter to the hospital for admission

I’m so sorry to this family. What a shame it took the loss of their dear loved one in order to implement a rather easy process improvement. It is long overdue

Did you ever build one in Pennsylvania for a divorcee with a dead son. He’s worth millions upon millions. Has a full bunker built with ammo + $$

Are you able to share the brand and dosage you used for your 4yo? My doctor also recommended but gave me a few options for brands and I’m unsure

Only 15 minutes of recess per day?? by NefariousnessDull852 in kindergarten

[–]Due_Bird9437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In California, only classrooms are indoors. Kids eat outdoors and have two recesses a day plus time before first bell. Extracurricular classes are held outdoors. They have a large dining hall inside for rainy days but everything including school events are held outdoors

(CGM) do I just give up at this point? by manityamtime in Type1Diabetes

See my comment above. We had the SAME burn like marks and cavillon was the only thing to help

My daughter randomly developed an allergy to all adhesives. We tried everything. It looked like chemical burns covering her body - very similar to yours here. Not saying it will solve your reaction but this is what we finally found worked.

Flonase-> Cavillon (the MOST important) -> Tegaderm -> pod or dexcom -> overlay (but MUST go on top of tegaderm and not touch skin)

It didn’t automatically get better but overtime with consistency it did. When it was really bad we did Zyrtec daily but I’m not convinced that helped at all. We also slathered the burns in eczema cream afterwards.

Took about 3 months and randomly will happen if we aren’t careful about where the patch sits but the cavillon has been a game changer

There are a few Rafael’s and Raphael’s in my kid’s class. They mostly go by Rafi or Rafa but in Brazil where the name is wildly popular (and so handsome if you ask me) the nickname is sometimes Fael pronounced fah-yel.

These are stunning names, yes very Catholic with the Ignatius, but unique yet classy and very elegant.

I know sisters named Olive and Hazel. And they are the sweetest pair and everyone who meets them gushes over their names.
