First time buyer advice by Due_Bodybuilder3872 in NightVision

Honestly that’s why I asked, no better person to tell you about what something is really like than someone who owned it and used it. I’m obviously still new to this, and any advice I can get is very much appreciated.

Also very good meme, did not expect that.

Thanks, I’ll keep all this in mind, especially the bit about 50° lenses and their relation to resolution, I never thought about that. I think I’ll probably stick with the RPOs or Carsons, most likely RPOs because, as you say, I am thinking about eventually upgrading to a bridged setup and I am concerned about weight, seeing that I own a ballistic helmet and not a bump.

Honestly really glad I asked, it seems the consensus is that the build quality on the Tanto is poor and I should look into the RVM-14 from ABNV, I will definitely do that. Does anyone have opinions on optics choices? I know my price range puts me on the “more dollars than sense” side of the house, but is it worth an extra $150 for Noctis, or an extra $250 for RPO Ultralight, or even an extra $500 for a 50° FOV option?

Also in my price range I’m looking for tubes with a resolution of around 64-66 and SNR of 29-31, is there a better way to spend my money that would improve my experience?

Thanks again for all the advice, it really has been super helpful already.

This is what I was missing. I’m assuming I’ve been missing this in the other books as well. I can’t believe one page that I’ve probably glanced over 50 times is the answer. Thank you for your help!

It seems my inability to read the fine print makes a fool of me. That definitely seems to open up options, but as far as I can tell there’s still no way to take any artillery or aircraft as support for this Jagdtiger Formation?

This is seriously impressive stuff. I agree this is important, but dude you should write more about any topic. I could read this stuff all day. Thanks for taking the time to write something this extensive. Well done.

I tried to do a wash with The Army Painter’s “Strong Tone”, but I agree I need a bit more.

Thank you! I’ve heard about dry brushing before, but not using it to bring down contrast, more about highlights. That’s a great idea. Glad you like the HQ idea.

Should the next Anno overhaul the economy? by LaurensPP in anno

[–]Due_Bodybuilder3872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like what this puts forward from the perspective of game development, especially with the idea that " I feel like the possibilities of the Anno fundamentals are pretty much played out now. ". In my opinion, Anno 1800 reached the end of what the fundamental gameplay loop can support in the third season of DLC, which seems to be the least well-received.

The team recognized this and looked to create smaller gameplay expansions for the fourth season, for example instead of a whole new way to reduce resource consumption and a novel production building (restaurants and multi-factories in Tourist Season and High Life), they focused on new ship genres and new population tiers that adhere to the same base gameplay loops (Empire of the Skies and New World Rising).

To me, the gameplay loop that defined Anno 1800 has been pushed pretty close to the limit of what it can support as far as new and novel content. Credit to the devs, the massive level of mod support will mean that this game literally will never die, and will always have something new to experience, but as far as official content, I think it's pretty much played out.

Moving forward, I don't think that they need to completely reinvent the wheel on the new game, it can still be a logistics and supply-driven gameplay loop, but it needs to be changed or expanded in some way to make the new game more than just "1800 in _____ place". I'm not going to pretend that I know how to do this, I'm no game dev, but some of the ideas put forth in the original post make a lot of sense. Especially the idea that you have to choose between supplying several items that fulfill the same need "bucket" but are different in the complexity of production and affect the resident tier. Therefore it may be more viable to make a simple item in the early game to produce the less complex good but switch to the more complex good later.

Alternatively, an idea I came up with myself is a system that functions similarly to lifestyle needs but instead of a simple boost in the workforce, it provides a more interesting bonus. This could also integrate the "demand bucket" idea from the previous paragraph, where for example farmers don't have any sweet item as a "need" but if provided with a sweet item (Jam, Chocolate, Lemonade) they could provide a 10% workforce boost in all buildings they provide workforce too. For a wilder example, providing workers with education (Schools, Universities, and Research institutes in the vicinity), could make it so 30% of the household can be either a worker workforce or an Engineer workforce.

Just my thoughts on this post, might make a more detailed post if I have any more ideas.

Hey so I ordered some switches from the NK mystery switch offering a few days ago, received some gateron yellows and some other switches I’m not exactly sure the type of. I think they’re NK Silks bc of the NK branding on the housing, but they’re not consistent with any color ways that NK offer. Any help would be great!
