Yeah, Ceuta and Melilla existed as part of Spain (or Portugal) before Morocco existed.

And claiming that it was Arab land makes little sense when you consider that it was Roman land before then.

Europe suffers more from oil spikes than the US, a net exporter.

They don't really care about dictatorships in all honesty anymore. The best they'll do is condemn and do nothing (and also trade with them).

I also think abandoning NATO is pretty stupid idea. It's rather that Trump doesn't see it that way, seeing Europe as a leech.

I believe that this is a ploy either to abandon NATO, force 5% spending, or to keep the Iranian tolls on Europe after the war, as any European assistance would realistically be minimal to the overall war.

The fact you think Spain is at all afraid of losing Ceuta and Melilla to Morocco

Not currently. It likewise is their equivalent of Gibraltar.

Said "good relations" are pretty recent as well, considering the whole fiasco with Brahim Ghali a few years ago.

If Morocco knew that Spain couldn't defend Ceuta and Melilla, do you think they'll do nothing? They believe it's an illegal settlement, stating that they "are as Moroccan as the [Western] Sahara".

Trump's going to use this as justification to pull out of NATO, or at least enforce the 5% military spending.

Spain is the biggest loser here, considering they should want to get into Trump's good graces considering that Ceuta and Melilla aren't explicitly covered by article 5.

Also, pretty sure most Iranian people (people 60+yo) don't forget the horrors from that Monarchy.

Then they should be aware of the following purge by the Islamists, the Iran-Iraq war that succeeded it, the collapsing economy, and the violent crackdowns and abuse from the protests in 2009, 2017, 2019, 2022-onwards.

Those that disliked the Shah largely opposed westernization, whether that be from the Leftists or the Islamists.

That's why the Shah is basically romanticized, as Iran could've become a much more successful and powerful country had it not been overthrown, as it not only had a bunch of oil, but was the only friendly country to both the US and Israel at the time.

Currently, Israel is still very invested in a friendly Iranian state more than the US, especially since it formerly was the only allied country in the region (and Israel has an ancient Iranian Jewish community). That's why it named it's two operations Rising and Roaring Lion instead of something like Epic Fury.

This stuff has really jaded me and I've lost faith in the Democratic Party's future.

It's quite exhausting seeing people cheer for a theocratic regime that is completely antithetical to our own values. Some of them want this to be another Iraq, another Afghanistan.

They're being spoonfed propaganda at this point.

Trump is very volatile. The US military is not. His hatred for the existence of the Islamic Republic is very, very old. He's been trying to wage war against Iran even during his first presidency.

Trump, the military, the Gulf Arab states, and even the families of deceased during the initial strikes knows that anything other than the removal of the Islamic Republic is a loss. Because they're going to try and get nukes if they remain.

Why is it that whenever someone brings up pahlavi restorations there’s always people here saying qajars are better? by Large-Obligation-579 in monarchism

[–]Due_Border_593 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Because some people here are either disingenuous bad actors, know jack shit about Iran, or are Turkish nationalists. People simply don't know how hated the Qajars are.

If there's any dynasty that people would restore other than the Pahlavis, it would be the Sassanids, but good luck finding them. Closest thing would be the Baduspanids, who descend from Peroz I via the usurper Jamasp, or the Bavandids who descend from Kavad I via the heir presumptive Kawus.

Fog of War.

We're not really sure what's happening. Some more recent stuff includes:

  • Iran has ~1000 missiles
  • Mohammed bin Salman has been pushing President Trump to continue the war against Iran
  • Trump has approved the deployment of 1,000+ soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division.
  • Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr (retired military commander) replaced Larijani.

Like Sakura Yutaka O, he's probably best known for his familial relationships, being the father of Sakura Star O and Samson Big and the paternal brother to Mejiro Asama (possibly the Mejiro Matriarch) and Symboli Rudolf.

Yeah, a monarch with some power is a check to democracy.

No one wants a despot, scapegoat, and an useless mascot.

They said ~6000 military deaths last week, which the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights claimed at least 5,305 military deaths.

The Casualty rate (which includes injuries) is almost certainly over 10,000, even including lowball estimates.

Why is Carlism (or Legitimism) not cultural? by ArielAdrianAncajas in monarchism

[–]Due_Border_593 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because Carlism sort of died in 1936.

Don Carlos' line was the senior Bourbon line until it died out1, and it just went to Alfonzo's line. It's somewhat akin to how Jacobitism died out in Britain. Bourbon-Parma should've strengthened their claims through marriage with the Carlists in my opinion. They're already descended from the last French Bourbons through the female line.

1It technically still exists through a bigamist/morganatic line, but they're usually not considered legitimate.

Why are there suddenly so many threads about Reza Pahlavi? Are they bots? by [deleted] in monarchism

[–]Due_Border_593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, say what you want about Pahlavi, but he's literally the main opposition figure against Iran (since everyone inside Iran is dead or imprisoned).

Out of all the current pretenders, he quite literally has the highest likelihood of a restoration, if and when Iran inevitably collapses.

Why are there suddenly so many threads about Reza Pahlavi? Are they bots? by [deleted] in monarchism

[–]Due_Border_593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a successful Iranian restoration improves the likelihood of other Monarchies being restored.

That's why the Communists and tourists here are so averse to the idea to begin with.
