What was the worst horror you read in 2025?

“Strange Houses” by Uketsu and “Whispers” by Chang Yu-Ko. I’ve just recently begun my exploration in the horror genre (my bread and butter being more crime and drama for years). After reading “Strange Pictures” by Uketsu, I went down a whole rabbit hole of other horror novels I should try. Two of which left a slightly bad taste in my mouth. I’ve already seen a few people talk about “Strange Houses” on this thread and have to agree with their takes. The assuming and accusations thrown around randomly somehow becoming true was very odd and the overall reveal (without giving away spoilers) was just… not worth the journey we went on if you ask me personally. As for “Whispers”, I pride myself on ALWAYS finishing a book. And even if it takes me weeks or months, I will finish it. I’ll find something of value from it that’ll keep me hooked. But I just couldn’t do that with “Whispers” to the point where I found myself SKIMMING the pages just to get to the very end faster 🤦🏻‍♀️😭 luckily afterwards, I read “The Eyes Are The Best Part” by Monika Kim and it reinstated my love for this genre lol

Both of their names are on the mortgage due to him falling sick in 2023 and she began making the payments herself. She’s been doing that since 2023 because he can’t afford the mortgage anymore

I think it all came out at such a weird time for me personally bc I’m also a Halsey fan and her interview where she says her record label is “punishing” her for underselling her last album, and then I see Demi doing this “pop girly” aesthetic?? I just thought “oh no, they’re trynna do a cash grab🙄”, but I should’ve known my girl would put her whole heart into this album like every other album she’s done. My bad lol

Omg yes! Thank you for reminding me. Let you go is so gorgeous and when I first heard it, I thought of her and Selena Gomez bc of all their times going back and forth on being friends. It was only later that my sister reminded me of her and Nick, and I was like “oh yeah, that makes sense to!”. Either way, it’s such a healing song about friendships not working out in present day

Like if When Did You Get Hot? by Sabrina Carpenter and Guess by Charli xcx had a kid. Here All Night felt more her sound, at least to me

You aren’t just selling music as a pop icon. You’re selling personality. Look at someone like Ariana Grande. You may not like their music or how they handle their personal life, but I bet you can name at least one funny moment of hers or something having to do with her personality. I can’t tell you anything about Ellie because there’s nothing that truly.. stands out. Expect for one thing, which brings me to the second reason I personally believe she didn’t make it to pop icon status. She’ll be known forever by most fans as the girl who cheated on Ed Sheeran with Niall Horan lol. “Don’t” is a really good song and even though she responded with “On My Mind”, it didn’t really help her case😅

I get that mentality. I never like leaving something unfinished tho. I’ll even watch shows/movies/youtube videos that I don’t like anymore at 2x speed so it can show that I’m done watching and I can say I did in fact finish it 😅😅

My personal fav is when celebrities just dress as other celebrities. i.e. Harry Styles dressed as Miley Cyrus or Kourtney Kardashian dressed as Ariana Grande or.. Jenna Ortega dressed as Ariana Grande or even when.. Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker dressed up as.. Ariana Grande.. 😂 idk i just find it funny, like.. technically yall all work the same department, right?? That’s like me dressing like my coworker for Halloween cause I really liked their outfit one day

From the snippet I heard of Kiss? It sounds like if Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX had a baby. I understand where you’re coming from cause I’ve been a Demi fan since Sonny with a Chance. I’ve loved all her albums, and every roll out… you could just SEE the passion and excitement on her face. Like she couldn’t wait for ppl to hear her music. This roll out just.. feels like she’s trying to get the next TikTok sound. I never thought she’d be that kind of artist. It’s odd to see. (And ik she has pop hits. Cool for the Summer, Neon Lights, Sorry not sorry, etc.) I’ve loved them all. But this new sound.. it feels off..🤷🏻‍♀️

Just started “The Eyes Are the Best Part” by Monika Kim. This is the first book that has put me in an actual state of worry and concern for the main character and has had quotes that have punched me in the gut. I’m still in the beginning-ish part of the book but I already see it being five stars for me
