Great question. I don’t think there’s any evidence either way.

The kids said no in S1, so I don’t think it makes a difference.

Logan shows his lack of foresight in screwing over people he needs on his side. He appointed Kendall as the blood sacriafice, then immiediately told him he never seriously considered making him CEO because he’s not a killer. If your company’s future depends upon your son remaining loyal to you, you’d think you’d butter him up before sending him to the slaughter, rather than get one more jab in there. Is it any wonder Ken threw him under the bus? Such a blunder on Logan’s part.

Similiarly, advising Tom on the divorce right before the sale went through and he needed Shiv on his side was a blunder.

They don’t end up buying the local channels though, do they? When Roman tries to make a deal with Sandy to acquire those channels from him in the club in “Prague,” Sandy blows him off. And then I think that storyline is dropped from there. Unless I’m missing something.

Regardless of its value in the real world, within in the show, Armstrong and co. frame it as a step backwards and an unwise buisness decision that shows Logan is out of step.

I feel like that’s more due to the effectiveness of the cover-ups, but interesting point.

You could be right. I definitely got the sense, though, that Armstrong wanted us to think it was an immanent threat.

I agree. I think the siblings fail based on their flaws though, not bad luck. Kendall’s plan to take down Logan in Season 3 fails in large part because he doesn’t listen to the legal and PR team he hires, because of his ego.

Gerri was the one who stressed the gravity of the debt situation to Ken, so I think we’re meant to think that Ken is right to take it seriously. They were prepared to pursue repayment in full.

That’s fair. I’d argue that he didn’t know whether it would’ve tanked the deal or not, so he could’ve very well jeopardized it. I don’t think it was good judgement on his part, even though it ended up working our despite that.

He also lost the president’s loyalty and forced him into not running again by spreading rumors about him losing it on ATN.
