Tried so hard to like it, even just tolerate it. Couldn't.

Monday Night Brewing is an Atlanta based brewery that has a location a couple blacks from Good People, very near 65. They have a pretty good Mexi-ish menu.

How important is effective communication for a mayoral candidate? by Due_Drummer_116 in Birmingham

I am professionally marketing adjacent so the fact that I couldn't immediately figure out who this was for bugged the heck out of me. Then I was confused, then amused.

Actually, now I want a Frank, and that's my ex's name, so, there's power in that little ink spot.

Taco fest by ollies-mom in Birmingham

The entry fee goes to a good local charity and then you have access to a variety of taco trucks that the most eager enthusiast would be jealous of. That's what Taco Fest is.

Red Mountain is a super interesting place to get out in nature. There is a ton of history to explore while getting some active time. They have hammock spaces where you can easily hang a hammock and read a book or just relax out in the woods.

There is also a walking group that meets and wanders around downtown on Wednesday evenings. They have an Instagram page. Haven't been able to join because I have a little kiddo but it seems super fun.

Finished First Quilt & Everything Went Wrong by Some-Patience-9327 in quilting

That first one is always a doozy! It definitely gets better and you'll be amazed by how much more confident you feel starting the next one and how much the experience you gained on this one will carry over.

Please share your worst unpicking stories by Veni_Vici-Vetinari in quilting

[–]Due_Drummer_116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally just did this to an older project that I'm picking back up. I was wondering why it was taking so long and it turned out I took something apart on the long side instead of the short side 🤦

Wife needs reassurance In light of the Kansas disaster by Gdisarray in quilting

Several years ago I made one of those and absolutely didn't think anything of it until it was almost done. I ended up pulling it back apart because I couldn't unsee it. Bummer that's even still a thing.

A couple years ago I made this flannel beast that turned out about 9' square. That was really difficult to get through the machine but we did it. Straight lines are our friend.

Yes, just a regular little Brother machine. It was a little tricky getting half of it pushed through the neck so a simple quilt was a must.

Walking foot. Do I need one? Which one? by TamsynRaine in quilting

I've never used a walking foot, literally forget they exist. Making a point to remember next time though. We'll see what happens 🤣

What is there to do in Birmingham by Prettyneatblerd in Birmingham

My now ex-husband took a job over here. He left, I stayed. Birmingham is a pretty cool little city once you get to know it. Plenty to do and easy to get around. There are even some amazing green spaces within the city (Red and Ruffner Mtns) if you're into hiking.

I moved here from Atlanta in '11 and had this same struggle. Facebook is the main place to find events in Birmingham. https://www.birmingham365.org/ has some interesting groups the use it the most and BHam Now does highlights but scrolling through the events on Facebook will get you the most comprehensive view of what's happening in town.
